Going Long and Hard.

Sucks about the axle. Can through axle i9s do this? This is how I packed mine yesterday. Packing the cassette separate since it's the most dangerous thing to contact other bike parts. But pulling it out with the driver requires no cassette tools or chain whip, and installing requires no tools. Then yank out the axle tube, install the end caps on it, and thread back in the frame. This now prevents the rear triangle from being crushed.
I don't pack anything loose if I can help it. Any small parts and tools go in a strong bag in my other suitcase. Just bike and clothes in the bike bag.

Holy shit pulling my bike out for this pic I noticed that tsa ransacked my shit. My fork and seat post in totally the wrong section of packing, could have really damaged the frame if hit from the side now. Luckily no damages. Thought the bag looked really bulged.

Awesome Job! Sounds like a “must read” recap is on its way .... after some food and much deserved sleep that is.

Wow, when you can't imagine things getting worse. Regardless, way to finish the ride. Was it the TSA? I have a photo of what the bike should look like after packing, so they know what it should look like. On my last trip, some one nabbed one of my jerseys. It was nice, was green, white and black.

Well done my man-
Look forward to the full recap!

Those friggen tiny i9 pawl springs love to eject whenever they see the light of day..... if ya plan to disassemble, ya better have extras handy.... or maybe it’s just when I do it. 😳

My i9's are now over 10 years old and I've had them apart exactly 1 time, so i don't remember how the pawls are held it, I do kinda remember tiny ass allen keys though. It's time again for bearings maybe this year so I'll refresh my memory. The Stans pawls don't come out though. I've shipped it 6 times like this now and no problems (3 trips, both ways).

Nice. I have sh*ttier wheels, I guess. I've chased them all over the work bench over the last decade.
