Cathedral Pines

This was a very well run event. I had a great time and raced a good race. More later...

totally psyched to finish in 5:58:23 - six hours of riding/ 62 miles and I finished with just a minute and a half to spare to hit my goal.

totally made up for an overall very dissapointing race season.

I am one happy turtle.

You TOTALLY had time to start another lap - wtf? 😀

Capers beat me in the balls. I did 6laps 5:47min I have a feeling with the way my wrist felt it would have been dangerous if I went out for 7. It prolly would have bumped me up from 15th to 12th or something. I still like the 9er fork but if someone wants to GIVE me a susp fork I'll take it

Yea sometimes it's better that way. I always turn a 24 hour race into a 25 hour race. That's just me 🙂
yeah I hear ya xc. If I wasnt having cramping issues I would have been tempted to go for 7. but I was lucky that my cramp-management was succesful enuff to got me to 6 laps within my goal time.

mission accomplished = time to pack up a go home 😉

Yeah, I don't care how smooth the course is, 6 hours on a full rigid mtb hurts. I put a sweet White Brothers carbon fork on my singlespeed recently and now want to switch to a squish.

Mission accomplished

Tough race... for my butt especially 😀 The course was great and the race was well organized. Although I didn't like the mass start, the beginning of the first lap (on the single track) was a mess of people 😡

Had to do a pit stop at the end of L1 to take some clothes b/c I was soaking wet but then I didn't have any place to bring food w/ me so it was only Perpetuem and water until lap 4, when I recharged water and grabbed some gummy bears and a cereal bar.

I did 6 laps in 5:37 or so. That's more than double the longest distance I've done until today (25 mi). Right now I don't feel like doing this again but something tells me when registration opens next year I'll be tempted.

Thank you Willy. My new bike was great but I need to make several adjustments to it.

Congrats Mr. Turtle I saw you finishing from my car but didn't know it was you 🙂

Great Job !!!!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone have a pic of the results for Cat 2 40-49 by chance? Or do you know when/where the results will be posted?

Thanks.

Lefty would help ur wrists and your balls 😉

Lefty would help you continue beating Dustin's balls 😉

feel free to sell me that carbon fork. i rode on my stock mary fork. while my wrists are fine, my triceps are killing me.

and for the trifecta... I do believe Lefty would help your triceps as well 😉

I'm just bustin' balls (no pun intended Dustin)... for serious you guys kicked ass... great job...

my splits...
Lap 1 10.3mph
Lap 2 10.3mph
Lap 3 10.4mph
Lap 4 10.3mph
Lap 5 9.84mph
Lap 6 10.1mph

rode with Commandostyle the entire race. we purposely went a bit slower on lap 5 in order to kick it in on lap 6. we picked it back up in lap 6 and his last lap was his fastest at 10.5 mph thus finishing 2 minutes ahead of me. I would have had done the same (oh well) if not for the cramping at the end. but my last lap wasnt too shabby and still faster than the previous one.

never had an athletic endeavor go so perfectly according to plan. perfect pace and hit my goal exactly. 19th out of 24 in Singlespeed Open. not too impressive but I'm happy.

I might try a geared bike next year. I got killed on the mile long road start and had to fight traffic for 1/2 a lap. The course was fun and a BIG Shout to Dave Caster for helping Gordon and I with feeds. That little difference helped a ton. Gordon also won his class 40-49 cat1. Congratulations to all finishers!

Rigid

Yeah, I don't care how smooth the course is, 6 hours on a full rigid mtb hurts. I put a sweet White Brothers carbon fork on my singlespeed recently and now want to switch to a squish.

I have a fox 29er fork on my vicious and want to switch it out to a rigid. If the steertubes match we could switch. Just a thought.

What gearing was VTC 1st place SS dudeman pushing just So I know what I need to run next year ahahaha. Yeah right. Those times and speeds are beyond impressive.

I love the breakdowns!
