a notte from the "mayor"
and a note from the "Mayor"
To all SSAP entrants...latest update on the course consists of good news and bad news. Although this spring's conditions are by far the worst we've seen at Stewart, we have set the SSAP course. After many hours of chain sawing, and dragging branches, and cursing the mud bogs, we have settled on 12.5 miles of the best singletrack, including some new stuff you have not previously seen. Now the bad news...due to a minor conflict with another user group on the same day, in the interest of good will, we have had to forego 1.5 miles of the course, making the race 25 miles instead of 28!!! Where's the bad news you say? Actually there is none...the course is challenging as it stands...we have some cool new singletrack (dry) for your S/S pleasure, and "Hawiian Mike" promises to have his shirt dry cleaned right before the race! We are also hoping that "Norm" of MTBNJ fame will be gracious enough to accept our offer to be the coin toss host to determine whether NY or NJ goes first. Although NJ had the fastest time in sport class last year, we felt it would promote more good will, letting NJ make the call...plus we didn't know what else to do with that left over Homer simpson medal!
