Lance

I'm curious how Lance could possibly lose through this arbitration process. He goes into it saying I didn't cheat and I have 500+ drug tests to prove it. How many others do they have against him and what are their stories? It's his word against theirs so what would need to be done to overturn Lance's evidence and statement?

There is no Judge, no jury, no review of the findings by an appellate court - and in this case, Lance has no ability to select one of the arbitrators. I don't think anyone today would enter into an arbitration agreement where the plaintiff gets to select all 3 arbitrators. You can only appeal as to the issue of whether you were provided due process, i.e. provided copies of the evidence and names of witnesses prior to the hearing. You are not even afforded an absolute right to depositions to know what the witnesses will say at trial.

Got it, so none of the decision makers are impartial which makes no sense and is the opposite of what we believe in this country. But I like dictatorships so long as I'm the dictator.

"Rubio said he had not read the federal judge’s ruling."

“This issue boils down to whether amateur athletes should enjoy those fundamental rights.”

I think Rubio might be a bit confused as to what constitutes an amateur athlete. But he seems pretty clear on the fundamentals of grandstanding. I'm looking forward to more informed, well-reasoned commentary from him.

Check this interview with A Talansky. Fairly great stuff, if you think it's possible that pro-cycling might be cleaning up. Especially this bit: "Look at numbers. Vaughters posted it. What is the watts-per-kilogram now? With Rodríguez, it was 6.1. I was at 5.8. Those are doable numbers. That’s what winning races. It’s not 6.7, it’s not seven anymore. The numbers are there to prove it. It’s premised on assuming that we are clean. In my neo-pro year, I was getting results in time trials; that’s not possible if people are doping. I was close to Wiggins at Romandie; that’s not possible if Wiggins is doping. What I am seeing at this Vuelta is that people are winning because they are better riders." (That from page 2 of the interview if you wanna skip to it.)

well than...if this rate of attrition keeps up, I should be able to get myself into the TDF next year

this is a complete joke...especially if the government steps in. awesome use of our tax dollars.

T.D.F. = Total Dope-Fest. :popcorn:

But, if they're all doped, then Lance still won fair and square 😀

Not really though. The argument that if everyone is doping makes it equal doesn't really stand. USPS had the best doctor to administer the doping. Plus, they paid off people so that they got advance warning about doping controls which other teams most likely did not.

That said... who knows. We will have to wait and see what happens. Hopefully they will just put a big red asterisk next to his name along with everyone else's name and move on to a cleaner sport.
