Trans VA Gear. There's basically 2 stores in the first 400+ miles so I'll be riding legitimately self-supported. Will more than likely pack my Windburner and bring a full pannier worth of Oatmeal and Dinner Fixings. They marked water sources on the map so I've transferred those into my cheat sheet.

i have that same MSR filter...works great...just beware of that plastic grip thing slipping off
 
I figured out the eTrex. It's a little weird but I get it. You set a track instead of a Route if you want to follow an exact path. Because it's designed for areas with no roads, it makes sense.
 
for the campgrounds, do you book ahead or just roll on up the day of?

Most of them are free Primitive Sites. At least until the BRP, then you have to pay and reserve. Technically the park is closed until Monday so I'm rolling the dice. I don't actually have any plans so we'll see where I end VS my Cheat Sheet.
