Going Long and Hard.

What's the point of the tape on the fork? Rub protection from your bag mounts?
Yes. I have 2 grooves in the fork where the buckle rubs. I noticed it a little too late and I just don't want it the get worse. It also holds the bag more secure as the strap doesn't slide around.

Looking at the forecast I decided to swap the bike around a little bit. Temp will be over 40 degrees with a really good chance of rain so I moved the EMS bag into the framebag and mounted the pump behind it on the outside of the bike to free up some space. Also give me better access to the pump as I feel my pressure will change throughout the race. Mounted a normal bottle cage on the DT for my 3rd bottle. 4th will be in my SWAT pocket, could run a 5th if there's a ton of snow and conditions are slow. I packed a full size 8mm to remove my pedals if needed. It's been dumping from Swentna up so folks are talking of a good possibility of an extended push.

With JayP and Jeff Oatley looking to break the 350-mile record I'm hoping they'll break trail for the rest of us normal humans. I'm most excited about getting a front row seat to see those 2 go at it. Even though I'm only doing the 130 I'm pretty sure they'll still be faster than me to Finger Lake, I really just have to stay focused on who's actually in my race and not get caught up with the 350 race. Although riding with Bob would be cool so I at least have a homie. He's going to Nome so his pace shouldn't be hard to do. But, who knows, you can't really plan on anything with these kinda races.

4-days to go time.

Good luck Jim and be safe. We've never met but I've been following your posts about the ITI since you first posted about it. When I tell people what you're doing they think it's nuts, but it's inspiring and gets me out on the bike.

This is awesome and can't wait to read the recap when you get back.

Make sure you bring some MTBNJ stickers with you, they work better then duct tape.
Have a race.
