Darkhorse 40 2011

I did two laps yesterday using GPS data from an undisclosed source.

Lap one required trial and error at some intersections but I was able to figure it out and follow the course. I restarted my Garmin for lap 2 in the hopes of getting a clean file to share. I still got confused in a couple spots but this file is as good as anyone's.

Right at mile 12 do you take a right turn? I think that section is called indecision and theres 3 ways you could go there.

going to ride tomorrow afternoon will get elevation for this years course.

hard right at mile 12. not left like the 6 pack, or slight right like ssap, but a hard right into some reclaimed trail.

Is the course pre-marked like last year with the paint on trees?

No, nothing of the sort. As far as I know, it was not pre-marked this way last year, and the DH boys don't plan on doing that this year. Any paint on trees would be strictly rogue, unless I miss my mark.

The course will be marked the week before, as per the park rules.

It is currently e-marked on Garmin Connect. The link has been posted earlier in this thread.

the orange paint marks are not in any way associated with Darkhorse cycles or any of our events!
it is absolutely forbidden to mark the trails in this manner. we have contacted the DEC on a number of occasions when we saw these marks pop up.
they are not ours!

there is currently a garmin file of the course and we will try to get a map out as well. our map guru is out of contact at the moment...

we will mark the course with our trademark "big yellow arrows" one week prior as per DEC rules.

thanks and have fun out there!!

I know there is a waiting list but it's long and doesn't look promising...If anyone would like to sell me their DH-40 entry, name a reasonable price and pm me.

FYI-
registration is now locked! if you are in you are in! no more swapping, selling, changing category, etc.

Darkhorse 40 locked and being loaded as we speak!

here is a link to an official clean gps loop of the course.
as always we reserve the right to change, modify, alter, defer, etc this course as the Mayor sees fit!

SS gearing direction for DH40

I've never been to Stewart and I'm planning to go there the week before the race for a recon ride. I'm looking for some guidance for gearing for this race, as I only own one cog and would need to order a new one if the one I have is not appropriate. I know it depends a lot on the rider. My only reference (I started riding SS a couple of weeks ago) is that I rode the Kittatinny race course on 32-18 a few times and it felt a bit too high but something I could get use to with a few more weeks of riding it. Any advice?

Thanks!

Go big or go home!

I rode 32x18 there last year and I was spinning out all over the place. despite the big hills in the area, these trails are flat and fast.
