Darkhorse 40 2011

I've never been to Stewart and I'm planning to go there the week before the race for a recon ride. I'm looking for some guidance for gearing for this race, as I only own one cog and would need to order a new one if the one I have is not appropriate. I know it depends a lot on the rider. My only reference (I started riding SS a couple of weeks ago) is that I rode the Kittatinny race course on 32-18 a few times and it felt a bit too high but something I could get use to with a few more weeks of riding it. Any advice?

Thanks!

After riding with you the other night, I think you have the right gear on there.

I'm running 32x18 at Stewart and it feels perfect for me. PM me when you ready to preride.

I'm visiting family in NJ. I'm from GA. Anyone plan on pre-ride Mon, Tue or Wed??? I'd love to tag along. Thanks
@MattyB...Are you available?

I may I haven't thought about it Phil, by the way the Ti is a magic bike for Patty thanks. I will Text this weekend...

will be marking course Sunday am early.

stop and say hi. wouldn't hurt if you had a cold beer with ya either!! just saying...

Go big or go home!

I rode 32x18 there last year and I was spinning out all over the place. despite the big hills in the area, these trails are flat and fast.

33x17 on a 29er is not a bad gear. That is what I will probably run, unless there is 6" of r**n before the race...

Race course is fully marked and very fast🙂 I tried 32x19 today but didn't feel right. I'll stay with 32x18.

I loved the course except for the last mile... ugh those stupid hills and rock gardens are just annoying at the very end

watch out for the cramp monster hanging around there on 2nd lap. after 39 miles that last mile is gonna hurt. just a long slow steady climb.

hope to ride it tuesday night. will post up an overall layout/review.
