cutting the cord

My internet is $50 and using direct tv now as streaming for $50? But I think it’s going up. I will be switching to YouTube tv soon. These stream services will be raising their prices like cable. Give it time.

FIOS $39.99

YOUTUBETV $49.99

BEZOS, smart mf that he is $10

Total monthly double play bill: $99.98

Suck on it, u malignant overlords of all cable companies.

Don't forget a flo bikes subscription.

So much bike racing!

I use Last pass haha
I need local channels and local sports so in need Fubo Which is 65ish a month on top of Prime and Netflix which I have.
With my current package it’s not much cheaper and the quality isn’t there streaming live content
Ah, gotcha. Being very close to Gotham, I use an antenna to get local and some live sports.
(I get like 70 channels, and at least 15 are in English!)
I recognize this isn’t an option urrrywhere though.

Dinero? We piece workers gotz 2 no

It's not cheap. But it's an endless supply of races. Once I started watching on the trainer I have a hard time watching anything else.

Some of the prestige cross races are blacked out because NBC owns that. (You can always get that subscription too...)

We did a ton of HD antennas back in the day. Best picture quality you can get.

Man, you gotta watch these stupid everything connected services. I just realized on my prime account that I had Starz, Noggin, PBS Kids and Amazon Unlimted Music. These were all likely try it out and a subscription starts on X date. Also, some if it was probably Alexa asking "do you want to add that" and my girls saying "Yes". They bury this crap that you can't find how to cancel it. WTF.

Gotta figure out how to lock that shizzle down.

Reason # 321612316 why I don't want Alexa!

Man your internet bill is hella cheap, mines still like $65

How many options you have there? Luckily we have fios and optimum in competition here. I quit fios, went to Optimum for 2 months (Dog shit!!) then came back to fios and in that time verizon dropped the price to match optimum so now I get 200mbps for $45

It'll be interesting to see where it shakes out in 5 more years. The issue now is that everyone is jumping in the pool with their own service, so you'll need 5 subscriptions to get what you want. It's definitely getting muddy, but at least you don't get the added tax and fees w/ the services. I feel like cable companies lure you with a low "base" price, by the time you get to what you need + taxes and fees it's ridiculous.

The cables companies are already adapting to the pick what you want based plans instead of the get 30 stations e

The saving grace is that you can try and dump these streaming services easily. I had sling for two weeks before I realized it wasn’t what I wanted. Now on Hulu, but just downgraded my plan as the dvr is useless since everything is on demand the day after it airs. I also realized I don’t really need live tv. My wife is still stuck in some network shows, otherwise wouldn’t need Hulu at all.

BTW, apparently NBC is PITA with requiring ads and such as even with the no ad plan, they force ads on certain shows.

Apple TV 4k has an Xfinity Stream app - so you don't need to rent a STB from them.
Saves a little.

How does everyone feel about renting the cable modem, vs supplying their own?

I rent and about once a year place a ticket that my internet sucks. They send me the latest and greatest, ready to go. I could save the money and buy new ones periodically, this path seems less effort for me.

I get a new one every two-three....kinda thinking having the latest that they support directly is worth the $$$

we have purchased our own, the additional capabilities (built in usb for network shares, static IP, routing control ect) are worth it for me, plus then i have full control over my local network.

I went the same route (no pun intended). At the time I made this choice there were very limited options on the routers provided by the ISP.
