I bought the Netgear Nighthawk or something a few years back, and that's connected to the FiOS router. Pretty sure their service requires their router. I'm prolly wrong tho.OK so next question would be what are you guys running for routers? The Fios one I had to put in my living room and I still do not get reception in my bedroom.. Old 40's ranch with cinder block in part of the house from a renovation really kills signal..
I've had both Sling and Hulu TV. They both suffered from occasional stuttering during live sporting events. Thought it was me and upgraded internet speed and router. No change.Sling might have cheaper options for the live tv. I havent looked into hulu live tho. Netflix is in trouble because another major content is going live. I forget which one, but they control a ton of tv and movies. I'm in a similar boat, trying to get rid of cable. Not sure what to do for the live stuff.
We have a few years-old Nighthawk 7000. House is a concrete block frame with plaster walls, so we had all kinds of dead spots with basic routers.OK so next question would be what are you guys running for routers? Only PS Vue has been problem free in this regard.
That's really nice of them.I just spoke with Verizon and the 100/100 internet that I have bundled would still be at $77 since I am an existing customer and not eligible for the current discounts... But the guy did say that if I drop Verizon and my wife took over the account she would be as eligible and since she is a teacher that would also apply a discount. AHH love these complications
Not wired. On Google mesh router with confirmed download speeds of 100+Mbps. Priority given to Chromecast, but it made no difference.Running them wired on 1gbs, QOS settings set to give tv and gaming priority?
From what I can tell their service requires their router if TV is included. if your going internet only then you have to have them activate the port on the network box.. I just spent the whole morning reading up on the different things including the whole 12 pages on here.. LOL..

what gets me is the DVR box fees, and the modem fees. Depending on how many TVs you want to use, thats where the hidden price is. We bought our own modem instead of leasing it from Spectrum.
IIRC the DVR box fees were like $9 a month?
Pulled the trigger on Optimum/Altice 400 for $65 install for Thursday. need to pick up a Modem and router before then.
They offered 3 levels of Internet in my area $45 for 100mb, $55 for 300 mb and $65 for 400mb.. I chose the highest. Also on the modem I chose not to rent the one from them for the additional $10 per month. Bought a Arris surfboard for $69 at best buy. Figured my 1st months savings cover that.
From what I hear, you just call and they configure itLet me know what you have to do (if anything) to get your own modem connected. It looked like the install guy ran some sort of config on the modem, but maybe that was just standard install stuff? I want to use my own, as $10 a month there's no reason not to if I'm going to keep the service long term.
