Ok, here's my Wilco story.
My wife is Taiwanese, now purely Americanized, but we do go back from time to time, and last year at this time we went back for 2 weeks. My wife and daughter stayed 2 more weeks and I went home by myself. The flight back is direct from Taipei to Newark, 14 hours. You leave on a Saturday evening and get back to Newark Saturday night. So to combat jetlag, the best idea is to stay up and then come back home and try to sleep.
Well I'm 12 hours into this flight, and I am stone cold toast. I am so beyond uncomfortable and bordering on miserable at this point. I played all the video games I could, starting the trip with a single game of Zuma that lasted 4+ hours, literaly. I was 1 or 2 boards away from winning the whole game. I had read, watched TV, played video games. And I was still 2 hours short and ready to lose my marbles.
So I checked out the music available. And much to my surprise, Blu Sky Blue is one of the options. Now you have to realize this is Eva Air, a Taiwanese airline. The fact that they had Wilco as one of the options was mind blowing. I put on my headphones and listened to it for an hour as we got ever so closer to Newark. It was such a sublime and welcomed experience that I still vividly remember that single hour that was over a year ago at this point. This coming from someone who barely remembers what he had for dinner the previous day.
Thanks for the youtube link. I wrote this while listening to it. Just moved on to California Stars, which I think MtbDawgJeff labelled "the quintessential Wilco song", which I totally agree with. I uploaded it to my cell phone to use as my alarm when I travel.
