Which sunglasses?

Fit always being my problem with sunglasses (narrow big ass nose), I have been rocking a pair of Native Dash XP frames with interchangable lenses for a few years and love those.

That being said, the one pair of $14 clear safety glasses I got from home depot also work pretty damn good, but fog up when I stop, which is something the Natives don't do....

Smith Pivlocks, they fog the least amount of any sunglasses I've ever worn..you can find deals on them.

Yes, Oakleys are nice, but my clear lens for mountain biking need to be replaced every year or two because they scratch. The ones I use for the road are in great shape and a worthwhile investment as they protect my eyes for years.

However, on the mountain bike I now use cheap anti fog safety glasses :

$3 a pair instead of $40 for new lenses each year. I use them for smashing rocks at trail maintenance too.

The eyewear industry is a monopoly. Ever heard of Luxottica? They own and make Oakley, Ray-Ban, Prada, Gucci, Chanel, etc....

Essentially what you're paying for is the name.

Me? ...I won't pay more than $50 bucks for riding glass.

Love my maui jims so I was glad to find something that will probably work on the bike.

Surprised these look decent on me. I also tried the flak jackets but these fit slightly better.

Want to try these, might drive to NYC just for that. One pf the few pairs I can find that are polarized and transition

The Maui Jim's you like are nice but the frame is easily breakable. Two similar glasses are http://www.mauijim.com/honolua-bay-7024.html and http://www.mauijim.com/big-beach-6957.html. The frames are titanium and will last much longer. Just a thought.

Thanks for the heads up, though I don't think I want to push it to $300. If I go with the Maui Jims I'll take my chances with the plastic frames and their customer service (which is excellent based on all of my searching).

I have a pair of the Serengetis on the way from amazon, if they don't work out I'll just eat the return shipping. Probably cheaper than a trip to NYC anyway. Also I gotta get the final fashion approval from the wife 😀

I've never had any luck with Oakley...EVER! Seem to scratch by just looking at them..to delicate for me. I've been wearing Coast Del Mares..which are designed as fishing glasses. However, I've dropped them..sat on them and they have baked in the hot sun of my car for 5 years and not a scratch on them! Hope you find what your looking for.

There difference between Oakley optics and those fleabay knockoffs are the night and day. Their lenses are the only reason I buy the brand. I used a pair of Bolle something or others, then had the Radar Path (sold them and used free Natives which don't compare) and now the Racing Jacket. As far as scratching the lenses, the glasses come with hard cases and if you use them shouldn't be an issue unless you to to shove mud caked glasses into the slot of the case.

For the bike, but I don't want to look like a total clown. Suppose that part really doesn't matter.

I've had the same pair of sunglasses since 2006. And I bought those because I didn't have any before, so I'm not worried about losing/breaking a good pair. Walter just gave me an idea....organic sunglasses. I'm rich, beeeitch.

Maybe you could pay to have your face rearranged so you have an easier time finding sunglasses that fit.

I just want to let you guys know that if you have a conversation with me while you are wearing sunglasses, I think you are a jerk. Or looking at my crotch the whole time.

dude, if you have sensitive eyes you notice a HUGE difference. i wish i could roll my $25 Knockarounds everywhere but i can't.

as for lux, well, just b/c the company owns all those brands doesn't mean that lens optics are all the same. i 110% get where you're going with the glasses frames (guessing that's what you posted...didn't watch)- it's silly, and i know it- but i still want oakley or rayban i have an image, damnit.

Maui Jim's customer service is nothing short of the best. i have several examples of this but here's my most recent: i was "shopping", aka sitting with my son while my wife tried on 50 things and asked my opinion, which coincidently is always wrong but that's another story, when my maui's slipped off my head, hit the floor. frame around the lens, broke, lens went skipping across the floor. i was in shock. my son handed it all back to me and i was like "welp time for new glasses" which i wasn't happy about- i take good care of my shades b/c i need them. anyway, my wife gets all her stuff loaded into the car and i walk over to the sunglass hut, ready to try on multiple new Maui's. i show the manager, tell my story and she says "they're Maui's. i'll just swap you out a new pair." seriously could NOT believe it.

needless to say they have a customer for life.

Wait, is this for on the bike or off? It is a rare day you will see me with my flak jackets off the bike.

my bike (and running) shades almost never see off the bike (or run) activity. i can only think of maybe one time when it crossed over and it was b/c i forgot my regular shades.
