trail conditions dashboard

Ideally I think also if you don't agree with a rating, go give it a different one. More data, better results.

time weight the data...
nerd alert - logarithmic or geometric decay

trail assessment certification classes will commence on.....

I say we go with it as designed
After a better population of data we can reconsider some sort of fancy algorithmic formula

Pat is just being pedantic. Kick him in the shin next time you see him...

This. If this means that ratings will soft-reset sometimes on some sort of schedule. That way a park that's 1.3 from 20 reviewers won't be a 1.4 after one perfect review on a sunny, 90 degree day.

yup! pre-vacation babble....

it does need something to favor the current data - hell, it is just adding a little math in the sql.
id say the slope of the last two daily averaged observations is probably the answer....
same, worse, better......peasy.

Average review is based on the last 7 days.

I'm pretty sure that if a park has 20 reviews in the past 6 days where the average rating was a 1.3, a single sunny day at 90 degrees isn't going to instantly be a 4.0.

I was going with the "overly concerned with minute details or formalisms" angle.

I think that's okay, yellow should direct viewers to the park forums for greater detail. I wouldn't expect a trail to go from red to green in a day or two. I'd generally ignore red consider either green or yellow depending on comments

Fellow fisherman ... anyone ever take their rod with them while biking and pedal to offshoot lakes/streams to fish? I've been contemplating this idea for a while. Wondering if stashing a 6' split rod in my camelback will work?

I'm currently rigging up a system to transport 2 fully rigged 9' fly rods without breaking them down. This system however will not work in thickly wooded areas, it's specific to a certain place I fish so I can quickly move between spots without re-rigging. I have however ridden with a rod broken down in tube secured to a pack, this works like a charm. You should be able to find a 3' rod tube to do this no problem.

it can def go from green to red in a day....

eyeballin' the scotch at this point...

I know I'm just a nobody but I just submitted my first review today and I know with the rain this week its going to go to shit real quick with the rain expected. I think it would be more helpful to reset the ratings whenever there is a weather events like rain which if your like me wouldn't know it rained unless I saw it since I can go to work before sun rise and leave after sun set with out ever seeing the outdoors during the day.
