Sccx #2

Sorry to miss it

After westwood velo cx I came down with a cold and it stayed around for awhile. I just kept riding thinking "It will pass like any other cold". I was wrong after last weekend and though the holiday I was getting worse. Come to find out I have bronchitis, and the meds have made life a little easier the past two days. If there is two things that I have learned from this is that 1. Don't keep riding through a chest cold, and 2. I'm getting old. SaD. Good luck to all and see ya next season.

Big shout out to Team Bulldog and the Skylands posse for a great 2-day event. Looking forward to net year already. I know I'm not alone in saying it but it was nice to have a couple fast dry races. My bottom bracket thanks you. as well.

Awesome job with these events! These may have been my two favorite races of the year, fast and fun!

Big thanks for sure to all the Bulldoggers for their hard work in putting on a great race, as always! It was particularly fun to ride the course "in reverse" for the first time, and I'm glad I survived the dreaded 2x8 obstacle.😛

Great event and had a good time. The uphill barriers seemed better on the second week for some reason.

Agree that the barrier were better this way. Mud at the top of the hill was Ted's response to that. I hear he was out there all night with a watering can.

Really good courses, both weeks. Thanks to Bulldog/Skylands for putting the events on and putting together solid courses. I'm with Eric in relaying the thanks from my bottom bracket 🙂

I say this in all sincerity - I have no idea how the mud got in that spot. I've been racing there since 2006 and have never seen mud there.

I think the barriers were harder the other way due to less recovery from the road climb. Not having actually ridden the course for yesterday, I honestly have no clue. 😀 Tearing down the tape, I was really bummed as the line was so tacky at the end of the day, I figured it had to be really fast.

Glad everyone enjoyed the races; it is definitely something that the larger group tries really hard to make a great 2 days for the racers.

This was also great to watch! Kudos to this guy!

Must be something to do with the road and the rain drainage - I don't know how else to explain it. The rest of the course was remarkably dry so no great shakes. A *little* mud is ok 🙂

I think being able to dismount on the inside of the turn is the advantage of the barrier this way. I do agree that the road climb last week did end up being a bit snotty during the race, so people were gassed a bit coming into them last week. Also, mental preparation does help.

Are you going to be around this coming weekend?

This was only my second CX race, and it was a blast. My family came out to watch me suffer, and my wife took literally 300 pix of me that I'll need to sort through. Next year I plan to do the whole series, and to actually practice riding my cross bike so that I'm more comfortable on it. I also need to figure out that whole getting back on the bike thing. I was halfway decent at it the one practice I went to, but at race pace I completely fall apart.

Forgot about the drive-side dismount, that actually would've been a big impact for the first week since most would dismount on the NDS and have to deal with the centrifugal force (how's that for 50 cent word of the day?).

I'm going to stay at home this weekend and get a nice, proper rest in as well as get some things taken care of around the house. Have fun at Horshoe! Enjoy the BB cleanup post-race. 🙂
