Rumble in the Jungle 2014

I would say no need to come all the way out from nyc just to preride such a weeny 5 mile lap.the jungle race always seem to so easy and short for reason?? Why is it always so easy when the place has such gnarly shiz? Lame...

They are talking about the Cat 3 course, which is perfect for that category. If you like longer/difficult/gnarly stuff come and race 3 laps of the Cat 1 course and you will not be disappointed.

Then you should win hotshot, see you on the podium?????
I just got back from Jungle after riding the race course, it ain't lame. Anyone who races knows Jungle is one of the hardest racecourse's, this year has plenty of tech.
Ginger, Boon and Rhino are suited for an Enduro race, not a XC Race.

Ginger I am a big technical rider as well and prefer doing most races that are jungle-like in nature and don't really race the purely 29 er races etc.
I rode the cat 1 course with some strong guys the other night and was quite surprised at how well the rocks start to show up and play a good role in the race after the first couple of miles. Heading up baboon and then down the backside there will be massive roadie pile-ups and runners carrying their bikes-which for you ginger should be pretty easy, then the climb up cages is steady but the top of it is pretty techy to get up and I'm sure you wouldn't make it anyway, but otter slide down after the tanks will be the most fun part of the course before hitting up warthog for a mile or so.
I think its worth it to pre-ride and I'm not racing but those climbs in the rock gardens on the Cat 1 course will definitely wear down the strongest technical riders let alone someone that calls themselves ginger.

If you really like the tech PM me and you can join on an invite ride after June 1to a location not on this board that you have never been to before and should really enjoy and be humbled at the same time

Blah blah. I ride that crap more than most of you cause i live less than 3 miles from it. And i rode it too wit all cat 1s that i have been racing with in cat1 for over 10 yrs easy on my singlespeed and im saying its too short and too easy as always wit ttc....

Could also have something to do with a) it's gonna be a gorgeous day - why NOT ride?; b) I've never been to Jungle; c) I crashed out during my pre-ride at Blue, barely made it through that race and Wawayanda, and would like to actually RACE something this season, which, oh right is; d) my first season of racing.

Sooo, I'm gonna pre-ride, k? Thx.

I'm in.
Never ridden here before but I hear it's technical. How does it compare to Sourlands or Round Valley?

Just signed up Cat2 40-49. First MTB race in 6 years. My last one was at Jungle, but I wasn't a fat bastard then. Anything better than DFL will be gravy. 🙂

Round valley has some rock sections but its not single track(its so blown out wide). Sourlands has some really tough rock sections but its not like jungle. The race course at Jungle is tight single track with rocks not quite as big as the harder sections of Sourlands.

Anyone who lives in NJ should check out Jungle, unlike most places to ride in NJ they are trails built specifically for mountain biking by mountain bikers.

Quick course marking update - it's pretty windy and rainy in WM right now, so we are going to put off the final course marking until uber early tomorrow morning. Dave VW will be out there early, so if you have any questions, you're sure to find him out there with his arrows and tape!

Rain is supposed to stop by midnight, and it'll be sunny and 70 tomorrow, sunny and 67 on Sunday - great riding and racing weather!

I was wondering how you were marking the course in this!!!

How well does the Jungle drain? Do you think it will be deep mud-pits tomorrow for those who want to do a pre-ride?
