ok-- so i'm pretty new to mtb. raced bmx for 25ish years, but just started mtb very recentlly.
i need help with this whole "gears" thing. lol. after all this time on a single speed bmx, gears and derailures are new to me.
i've got issues with two bikes, we'll start with one and see if i can figure out the other.
i friend of mine that rode for trek gave me a bruiser2 that he built. he is a trials rider, so it has a single 22t cw in the front, it has 11-26(i think) in teh rear. an old looking shimano deore in the back.
it doesn't shift all the way up to the granny gear, and if you are in the middle gears and try to pedal hard, it will pop down to the next chainring in the back.
also, the shifting itself is a little meh, do these trigger style shifters just get old inside after a while, doesn't really look like it's servicable
thanks
dave
ps-- as always, on a budget, so staying out of the shop is ideal.
