no they would say there just visiting.maybe have maryland tags or no carolina.

That's what I would do.^^^

If they want to have bicycles registered, why not skateboards, roller blades, razor scooters, trikes, everything. And why is it every time someone is "violated" there has to be a law to "prevent" it from happening again. Just like the stupid red tags drivers under 21 have to have now. I would love to see a cop chase me onto a trail for not having my tags visible haha.

The root problem is that people don't understand the risks that go along with freedom. And when those risks are exposed, people think they have a right to safety, and the right to not be offended. So naturally, those same people think that the government has the duty to protect them and they need someone to blame when things go wrong. And when an increasing number of people start to think that way, you get this type of bullshit legislature.

Well said.

This bill was mentioned for 10seconds on the ch 11 morning news then they went to a story about an elderly lady getting mugged and slammed to the floor by a teenage girl at a subway station...but it was mentioned

theey covered it on 1010 radio this morning.

about a 2 minute segment and it was presented in a very mocking tone.

this thing is absurd on its face and everyone sees it that way (thankfully, not just us bike freaks).

as I said above, she amde a fool of herself.

those red tags are for drivers with their provisional license, mostly under 18 (im 20 and do NOT need to have the read tags on my plates, i only know these details because i have friends in hs who have to put up with this bs)

Yeah, and the cost of administering this would probably come to $11 per bike. How about a one cent tax every time a legislator opens her or his mouth and nothing useful comes out? Budget is balanced.

one of the best ideas i have heard in a while

The state should pay cyclists, not the other way around. Cycling means better air, better water, less congestion, healthier people. Unlike cars, bicycles do not wear out the roads and do not require massive amounts of parking space. Why make us pay for taking a burden off of the state?

like. i know there are some companies out there they actually have monetary incentives out there for their employees that bike to work...

The story is now getting some national attention and has made the Drudge Report. Would not be surprised if she laches onto this for some more press by way of a new proposal or request for hearings.

Cars do very little damage to the road ways. It is the larger vehicles, such as tractor-trailers, dump trucks, and shipping units that do damage to road systems. The wider introduction of bikes would do very little in terms of damage reduction.

It's dead but it was on the FRONT page of the star ledger today.

All my employees were keen to point this article out to me knowing well I frequently ride to work. Someone even left an old license plate on my door.🙄
