these may have been mentioned before, but back in the day when i was into music that resembled math equations, i really dug these two. both released a fabulous demo, a great debut album, and then, unfortunately, mascaraed their sophomore release. these guys don't get much play time on my ipod anymore but they're worth the listen...

the human abstract

protest the hero

on a different note, Thrice's Alchemy index p. II water is swell

digital sea

and neo-medieval music that no one else likes except me for good measure😀

Corvus Corax- Dulcissima

Wow, some cool and diverse stuff on these lists.

Music is a dominant force in my household. My wife's taste in music is incredible. She actually can play instruments as well. My talent in that realm is pathetic.

Anyway, most of my listening is in the car these days. Currently abiding:
-Isis
-Harvey Milk
-Om
-Lungfish
-Corrupted
-Wire
-Mastodon
-Robert Pollard
-Boris
-etc.

Last show attended was TV on the Radio and Grizzly Bear in Philly. Both bands were superb, particularly TVotR.

This thread could be a good one to keep alive.

ISIS YES! saw them open for Tool a couple times and been hooked ever since

Rode with the iPod for the first time ever last weekend. Was not bad actually. I always thought it would totally interfere with the whole riding experience. Found that it made it go by quicker....I think I ended up riding for like 4 hours and it seemed like 1!

I dig the funky stuff. listened to a mix of bands such as:

Soulive
The RH Factor
Greyboy Allstars
Lettuce
Jamiroquai
The Brandnew Heavies
Rad.
The Motet
Liquid Soul
Tower of Power
Stanton Moore
Galactic
The Meters
Soulsonics
Karl Denson's Tiny Universe
Ohio Players
Lotus
John Scofield

Nice list there buddy...Not to many listening to the Meters any more but hands down one of my Favs...The whole New Orleans funk scene of that time spit out some ridiculous shit...Mongo SantaMaria has been blasting in my garage...An Afro-Cuban Drumming legend...

Hell Yeah dude...The Meters are some real ROOTS music! the fundamentals of New Orleans instrumental funk/jazz. got a chance to see them a couple years ago in NYC.

PS cool vid, not too familiar with Mongo SantaMaria but i definitely dig it.

I gave up on Queensryche after "Promised Land" ("Hear in the Now Frontier?" puh-leeese!); although Mindcrime II was a step in right direction, I think the train already pulled out of the station.

Right now, I'm going through an Overkill renaissance phase 😀; unlike Metallica or Megadeth, they're one of the few bands that've remained true to their metal/hard core roots and still putting out some decent tune-age.

On my iPod:
Hendrix
Buffalo Springfield
Zombies
Dick Dale and the Del-Tones
(early) Steely Dan
Traffic
(early) Emerson Lake & Palmer
Beatles (Help! & Revolver)
Blood Sweat & Tears
Byrds
(early) Jethro Tull
Sly & The Family Stone
Metheny (too much to list)

I still see Overkill about 2 times a year. Agree with you 100%, one band that never got out of control. Blitz still sings and puts on a show just like he did 20 years ago.

Coolio...
Post up here when you hear of domestic tour dates; I know they're in Europe in April & May. I'd like to catch 'em here among their homies. 😉
