listening to converge for the first time in awhile today. Farewell Note to this City from Petitioning the Empty Sky is one of my favorite songs ever. I had trouble getting into their newer stuff, but that album will always have a special place...

Little snippet in an article in GQ mag regarding great record/CD shops mentions a place I haven't been to in about 20 years but was impressed at the time...Vintage Vinyl in Fords. Still any good?

Notes they specialize in prog and metal (my personal favs).

V Vynil is one of the last great independent record stores in the area. If you love music you owe it to yourself to go there if you've never been. You can find just about anything there from any genre. I gotta get there soon, haven't been there in at least a year.

Chickenfoot!!

From www.satriani.com:

Chickenfoot. Chickenfoot? Chickenfoot! Yes, the band Chickenfoot
featuring Sammy Hagar, Chad Smith, Michael Anthony and yours truly,
is about to release its first CD called, "Chickenfoot", of course.
It was one year ago this last February that we first got together
in Vegas for a little jam in front of a few thousand people, and
decided to make a go of it. I'm glad we did.

Cold War Kids

This is the second recommendation for Cold War Kids, so I added it this morning. Not bad, but this band Kings of Leon keep popping up and I dig the 3 songs I've heard from them.

My friend was telling me to check out Kings of Leon for months, so I finally did and I was blown away. Their first album kicks complete ass. 2 and 3 are awesome too, and their latest album has a slightly different sound but I still love it. There is probably one song I don't like by them. I'm going to see them in Philly soon, cannot wait!

Wow, i gave up on this thread a while ago due to nobody being interested in indie music. Grizzly Bear is awesome and their next album is due out in May. If you like them i highly suggest you check out Department of Eagles last album called In Ear Park. Was my favorite album of last year. Dept of Eagles is a side project of 2 out of 4 members of the Grizzly Bear, including one of the two main singers. Sounds like Yellow House (the GB album i assume you picked up) only a little more upbeat. GB's next album sounds more like Dept of Eagles than it does Yellow House. A crappy version of Grizzly Bear's upcoming album called Veckatmest leaked all over the internet. It isn't worth downloading.

Here is a free track from Dept of Eagles website, and one of my favorites from the album.
