I've decided to take this Winter Rescue Course to familiarize myself with some of the bad things that can happen while racing through one of the most dangerous landscapes on the planet. Not sure it'll help if anything actually goes wrong, but it will at least keep my brain focused on making good decisions. Or, god forbid I run into someone in trouble out there...

Also Winter related, I finally mounted the other Anything Cage and 2 bottle cages on the new fork. Holy hell it's awesome. Everything I had in my Revelate saddle bag is on the fork + some. My frame bag is completely empty to use as layer storage, and between checkpoint rations. Sleep system on rear rack. Handlebars are empty, finally no more huge bag up front rubbibg the tire and throwing the handling off, should really be a game changer.

Real question, has it ever been too cold to use the bathroom? I've gone a few times at negative F temps and it wasn't terrible. I'm think more the temp loss and you'll likely be in far more extreme conditions than the canal path in January

Luckily, I've never had to go #2 during a race. I think your body is in such deficit you produce no waste. I pee every hour it seems though and it's always been fine. Quick, but fine.
