Getting to Know You...Question #8...

My quiver, newest to oldest

1) '08 Titus Fireline titanium hardtail, XT drivetrain, Fox float 100, Hope brakes & hubs
2) '05 Titus Modena carbon fiber road, Ultegra 10 speed, Bontrager race lite wheels
3) '04 Titus Switchblade full boinger, Fox Talas RLC, Hope brakes & hubs, XT/raceface drivetrain
4) '98 GT Lightning ti hardtail, most likely to be the victim of a SS conversion soon
5) '93 Specialized Rockhopper, my first "real" MTB
6) '90? Marin limited editon road, steel, bought used for $100, put about $1000 into it over the years

The Marin & the Rockhopper are on loan to a couple of people so at least they're getting some use. 🙂

i need to let my wife read this so she knows i'm not crazy for having 3.9 bikes. anywhoo:

1. haro mary SS, now with bozizzle plushy forkness up front (bent the rigid in the kvsp race)
2. allez elite, the "dreaded" road bike...which i ride probably a ratio of 4:1 to the mary. sadly...but it helps me have more fun in the woods.
3. trek 970, full rigid goodness, the beer fetcher/going to the store bike. currently sporting mary bars, a rack, lights and the circa 1993 pedal/toe clip combo.
4. raleigh grand prix, 1976 british racing green version that's a week away from being done and converted to CXish duty.

-Fisher 29er
-Seven Mudhoney
-Trek XO2
-Planet-X Alibongo

Pretty straight forward.

Down to just three that still roll

Van Dessel Ramble Tamble - 29er SS w/fox fork
Niner EMD - set up 1x9 and fox fork
Van Dessel Gin and Trombones - Its what I use on the road and hopefully try some cx with.

I also have a 1996 Kona Kilauea on the trainer w/ a slick, missing some parts.

2007 GIANT REIGN 0 | Diablo opening day 08

2007 SURLY STEAMROLLER | Fixed gear commuter

1875 BONESHAKER PENNYFARTHING (REPRODUCTION) | 48" wheel, suckers!

1967 SCWHINN TYPHOON DELUXE | Technically my brother's, but the result of my restoration efforts

PEPITO | Garbage mutant bike

GIRHINOMOFE | Count 'em - one, two, three! Ridden by my idiot drunk brother.

ding, ding, ding. I think Spylab's got the coolest line up of bikes so far. Pretty wild group of bikes you got there.

My brother got me the pennyfarthing as a birthday present this year. It came from www.hiwheel.com, a company who takes considerable pride in the authenticity of their bicycles. They produce some stuff that makes my bike look tame by comparison, but some of the prices are astronomical!

As for riding it, YES I can at this point pretty easily get up on it, pedal it, turn it and dismount. Decelerating is downright scary and I actually don't think there is a way to do it besides applying backpressure on the pedals and hope the center of gravity doesn't send me over the bars.

In fact, the Schwinn is the only bike that does not get ridden. After finishing the resto, my brother hung it on the wall in our breezeway and claims that it is 'too nice' to ever ride, which I think is foolish. Next year I've got to get that thing down to the boardwalk for a day of greasy food and slow cruising.

02 Yeti Kokopelli... the full squish......kracked the frame so it has an 03 frame and 06 chainstay, I think the only original parts are the wheels and the seatpost..
