Allaire is still closed

Just reminding all of you that the Allaire State Park Trails are still closed. Jorba has worked very hard to build relationships with the land manger. However, the park still feels it should remain closed until safe. Jorba asks that you support this closure and do not do anything to jeopardize bike access in the future.

If the park decision is one you can not live with, please write them a letter and explain why. Perhaps an overwhelming response from the community will push clean up along.

i did and michelle buckley responded:

Christopher – the trails should reopen shortly at Allaire. There was alot of storm damage with fallen trees, etc. throughout the area and we need to ensure the safety of our visiting public in order to reopen them. The staff has scheduled volunteer clean-up days on December 8th and 9th at 9 am to assist staff with getting the trails cleared and open to the public.

NJDEP site is still saying the trails are closed, but it doesn't seem to matter. We'll see how this all plays out.

6 mile too & it is just about perfect. :hmmm: Got to love how the wheels of government turn.

Yeah, it's pretty sad. No official trailwork has taken place yet and won't until NEXT weekend. Officially, anyone riding or doing work there risks fines, or worse. Purely an FYI at this point.

Closed yet Open

They maybe closed but parking lot has plenty of cars; with hikers, bikers and horseback riders!
Sandy hit a month ago and all the rangers did was tape up entrance, common man!

Yeah...sucks big time, we could have been done for a long time already. Their pictures on NJ parks facebook page shows them taking care of trees in the village, so we have to wait. (732) 938-2371 is the parks office #

R getting very restless!

Trust me, I know.....I am as well. What stops me from losing my mind is driving down Rte 70 and seeing the debris pile that is peoples lives....kinda brings things back into perspective. We'll get past this soon

Want to see one that is worse drive up 35 towards 10TH. ave past the marina in belmar the whole lot on the left is full with debris...some people lost everything..
If I can't get into the woods for a month doesn't seem that bad...I would do something stupid anyway..

Belmar has figured out how to work with volunteers - Allaire not so much.

Resisted commenting on this for a while but just figured I would get in the circle and piss on the fire. :getsome:

Heard from the park today we are meeting at 9:00 Saturday and Sunday the 8Th and 9Th at the hospital road lot.

Let's say someone has a map and has entered the park unknowingly. And perhaps this person happens to mark the locations of the widowmakers, and that person happens to pm that info to someone so folks don't have to walk all over the place next weekend. That would be kinda neat.
