I need to get new crossbars and mounts. I honestly havent bought a new rack system in many years. You guys running Yakima or Thule? Looking to put a fork mount on the roof. Thanks.

Racks

I've owned Thule, Saris, and Yakima racks and worked in shops that have sold the same. My experience for quality, product choices and ease of use Thule is the best in my opinion. The new Traverse foot works great.

Never used anything else but I picked up the Thule Traverse system and love it. Took my girlfriend and I 15 minutes to set up.

Thule for sure.

Customer service and product are very solid.

Yakima if you live on the west coast.

+1 on Thule customer service. They stand by their equipment for life. At least so far....😀

I had both Thule & Yakima. Both are great, but for the square bars, they seem to have a tendency to bow down in the middle.

I use yakima personally, but I would steer 99% of people toward Thule. For my car, the yakima bars sit 2" or so closer to the roof, which cuts down on resistance, lets the wind deflector sit at a much shallower angle, and just looks better. As far as the base systems go, the thule and yakima stuff is comparable, but the thule bike holders are lightyears ahead of yakima, IMO.

I'm running a Thule base system with Yakima upright bike racks in the summer and Thule snowboard carriers in the winter. The products I have seen from both companies seem to be real quality stuff, you probably can't go wrong with either.

i'm a yakima guy. i have had the rack for years on my corolla. i have a yakima bike rack, and thule ski and surfboard attachments. no problems to note.

I should add that the mount system and deflector are ok but I am 3 for 3 with having trouble with the holders, both upright and tray

Rub it in a little more... I'm running Thule on my Fit but for the reasons stated above am getting ready to switch to Yakima Feet and crossbars. My Thule bike trays are top notch.

What problems have you had? No catastrophic failures I hope. I run Yakima uprights so I'd be interested to hear.
