Cool stuff.
We found this huge salamander at Baldpate a couple of weeks ago during Fatbike lane maintenance. We were reworking some armoring and it was underneath one of the larger rocks. I've never seen one this size. It had to be over 6" long.

Fatbike lane Camera - Bear Video

OK, let's see if this works. Fatbike lane camera picked up about 10 minutes of video (in 10 second bursts) of a bear at the top of Pierson's Ridge here in Ringwood. This is my first try at editing (piecing together 4 different 10 second video clips) using YouTube software.

I also have some shots of raccoon up there and in my back yard. It's interesting to see what actually tracks through my yard at night.
 
On a roll....My wife took this of one of thousands on the trails the other day after the rain. I love the color.

Riding east on middle Red at Chimney today, I hear a swooshing sound behind me, to the right. In swoops a huge red hawk, some form of rodent he'd just snatched from a nearby stump in its talons. He came within 10 feet of me. Very cool.
 
Wildlife at 6M, in order of appearance:

1 Fox (ran right in front of me!)
1 Deer
2 Chipmunks
3 Squirrels
1 Bard
1 Robin
Their flock of Smiling Fledgelings
1 Bunny
2 more Squirrels

I also had the pleasure of watching my friend ride his new fatbike off bridges 3 times at 6M today.

I like seeing toads on the Fatbike lane. I think they're cute 🙂
It's interesting, the same type of toads I see down central jersey are a lot lighter colored than the ones up north.

one of my biking buddies kicked off a piece of wood and uncovered some ant eggs?? they look like rice grains lol. I carefully placed the piece of wood back.

He actually rode off one bridge twice. Rode off it once, got back on the fatbike, and tried again and went off the other side. Went back and did it again, successfully. I have GOT to get a gopro riding with this guy! 😀
 
no pics cause I was on the move but I screamed like a girl when I saw a red/yellow snake, and did not scream like a girl when I saw a turtle with black shell and yellow spots at 6m during the past week

Thats because those are two different species. The browner looking dude is an American Toad, the more decorated one is a Fowler's Toad.

We also have Spadefoots but I very rarely see those.

I thought they were both American toads considering there were 1-2 warts per dark spot vs 3-4 warts per dark spot on a Fowler toad. Might have to take a closer look at their parotid glands and their bellies next time.

If thats the case, then I stand corrected. Looking closer it's tough to see the wart groupings due to the angle. When I was looking at it last night through my beer googles I thought I saw groups of 3 and 4 on the top guy. Maybe I just saw 3 or 4 monitors. 😛
 
What do you think about spiders? This one is a Fishing spider and she's caught a Dragon fly.
