Video project...

Mr. Chainring
For the longest time I've wanted to test my skill (of which I have none 😱) taking some riding video. I rarely have time to hit the trails these days so when I do get out to ride I try not to stop too much. This weekend I had some extra time as the wife and kids were away so I decided to pull out the iPhone and take some video. It's a hell of a lot more work than I imagined. I have a new appreciation for Les Stroud (Survivorman) and people like that who film their own adventures and carry their gear. Anyway, here's what I put together. I hope you enjoy it.

This is great! I can't imagine how much time you had to spent setting up camera, go back, ride it and then same process again...well done🙂

you make those drops look way too small! haha

Yeah, that looks awful smooth to me, but I suck!

Great job, I've been wanting to do the same. What software did you use for edit and how did you upload off the iphone?
Good stuff!!!

Loved the video...🙂 Did you scout out all the shots in advance...or did you make it up as you went along?

Nice job on the videography.

What lot and which trails were you riding? I've ridden most everything between Skyline to Lot C, and Lot C north to the lake. Haven't hit the green trail which I've been told is a great decent and the race trail. I don't think I've seen that skinny you rode before.

Thanks everyone. I was out there for about 4 hours and picked spots as I rode along. I think I spent less than an hour actually riding my bike. Between trying to get my phone balanced correctly on the ground, tree stumps, branches- whatever I thought would get the best angle- then riding, then riding back, then checking the footage, then setting up the camera facing the other way, then... it's a lot of freaking work! 🙄

Filmed on my iPhone 5S, uploaded to my Mac then used iMovie to edit.

Showed the video to my 5 year old son and asked him if he liked it. His response, "I like the one on TV 'cause they do twirlies in the air."

😱 😡 😛 🙂

To many, that is not XC ha
Great video and riding.
It's painful work but it's fun and rewarding.

What bike mount in pickup are you using?

It's a custom 4-bike rack I built with 2x4s. Here's a picture of the same rack on my buddy's truck. His holds 6 bikes. If you're interested PM me and I'll email you specs on how to build one yourself.

ah, that's what I figured
if I ever end up with a pickup with a short bed I'll definitely hit you up since the tailgate needs to be down to fit a bicycle

It's great for DH shuttle runs. Not that I do that kind of stuff anymore 😉.

The bikes fit without a bed-extender on a full-size truck. I usually don't use my rack. I can shimmy my bike in the back without having to open the tailgate and use the extender. The rack just keeps everything neat and I don't have to worry about my derailleur getting banged up every time I hit a pothole.
