USPS Tracking

They're all bad. Once it's out for delivery, just hope the driver is capable or at least somewhat gives a shit. My neighbor, house 221, mine 227. FedEx can't decide which one to deliver to. Props it up on the fence between us. Happened multiple times but has gotten better. I think the guy got new glasses.

UPS delivered insulin. Overnight package, early delivery. Dropped off at the wrong house, on the WRONG street.

Best is the Amazon Same Day delivery guy we have around us. He can never make the 9pm delivery time so he marks the packages as delivered around 8:45, then delivers when he can get to it. We walked around the yard in the dark looking for the box and nothing. Found it the next morning, on the sidewalk. We've even found packages on the street, next to the curb. I think the guy does his drive-by delivery and tosses boxes out the window.

i can picture dudeman doing 30 mph and just winging shit like a paperboy

My UPS deliveries are so bad (with 1 particular driver)
I've had to request all my packages be signed for by me.
PITA, but at least I get my stuff

what about using the 'hold at' function - i have a ups and fedex store nearby, and can do a redirect on the fly.
i get a message when it arrives, and nobody jacks my alcohol!

As a postal employee *ducks to avoid thrown objects* I can say that each individual office is it's own animal. My office runs pretty well but some offices near me are a mess. Like still delivering as late as 1am. I was looking for a cab after a nets game and saw a girl delivering mail at 1030. And this was pattys day, so drunk people everywhere.
Mostly it boils down to the infrastructure wasn't meant to handle the parcel load. You'd swear no one leaves their home to shop. We work for Amazon. We had three 2 ton trucks that just delivered parcels in my office a year ago. Now we have seven.

It's a thankless job. And not as easy as working inside a building.
So I say Thank You! The po here, Freehold has been great!

Usps is the cheapest and most accessible. No having to find a box or schedule a pick up. I ship a Few packages a week usps and never have an issue. the tracking isn't the best, yes, but 2 day priority shopping to most places in the us for $6-$8 bucks, better than $10-$12 for 5 day ground.

no wonder they bleeding money

On the contrary, the wife and I have really tried to limit ordering things when possible. All the waste and energy to get something to our door. We need to stop instant gratification and laziness and ill preparedness.
We are already past the point of no return as a society. Everything is online and you can get the same day, or at most two days without running around to different stores. Sign me the f up. Shit, I ordered a hitch for my pilot and it came in two days.

Ironically you are the one ordering bikes online from a "LBS somewhere"

That being said, I am not an all in amazon person, meaning toilet paper and paper towel still come from Costco or target.

so a little history lesson.

usps is a government agency - and you are not allowed to compete against them in the letter carrier business!

It must server everyone. Remember the lawsuit about the guy that lived on the park bench?

So as a giant agency, they have many assets. Idle assets are a cost, so adding the smartpost and
sunday stuff for amazon may help them out.

primary cost driver for mail is gasoline. so the price of a stamp went down this year!

I agree - i bet it is office-to-office attitude on how much they put into their work.

my most awesome carrier ever moved offices - rarely made a sort error. New person, wears street clothes instead
of the cool high black socks, mid-thigh greys, and cool shirt. not as good a job, but not a problem when i need to
deliver the neighbors mail.

If you don't work from home you won't be so anxious about a package delivery.

Every shipping system is flawed, just accept it and when it gets there it gets there.

I laff so hard reading these replies , you guys kill me. Wat a bizznizz they run. All the world on time.

You should use ravens. Apparently, they can be very fast. One of them flew from Eastwatch all the way to Dragonstone in what could only have been a couple of hours tops because the very next morning, the breaker of chains arrived with her dragons to stop the Westerosi Magnificent Seven from being overrun by an army of the dead on a frozen lake. If that doesn't speak to the speed and efficiency of ravens over USPS, FedEx or any other delivery company, then I don't know what does. So ... I'll repeat: use ravens.

Spoiler alert!

F the ravens, I want my packages on the ice dragon. If the fire breathing dragons can get from Dragonstone to North of the wall in no time flat imagine how fast the dead dragon is gonna move.
