Tire Suggestions?

I have a Bontrager Team Issue in the Front & Rubena Scylla on the rear (after slicing the sidewall of the Bonty on my 2nd ride with them on my new Superfly 100.

I've lowered pressure to around 23 psi and running tubeless but finding that I'm not real confident with them when hitting technical sections and sliding somewhat when cornering

Had a similar feel after switching from a Kenda Nevegal rear / Panaracer Fire front to Schwalbe Racing Ralphs last year on my 26er

So while I'm sure part of it is getting used to the new bike - I'm thinking I need something with more agressive tread that still rolls well.(And thinking Nevegal is overkill)

Most of my riding is Waway/Ringwood/Jungle and planning on the racing the H2H series + Bearscat50, Sixpack & DH 40..

Recommendations?

tire suggestions

The Kenda H-FACTOR is a good tire for what you are looking for a little more grip then the nevegal. also another tire you can think about is the kenda blue groove.. if you need pricing or other suggestions .. call the bicycle hub of marlboro at 7329469080.

thanks

I have a HiFi. I liked my Bonty tires, but also sliced up my sidewalls. If you are like me and want to mount a tire and forget it, regardless of conditions, go with the Ignitors. Reasonably light, solid traction, and a beefy sidewall in the EXO version.

We did a maxxis group buy and of all the models there were 54 ignitors ordered. That should answer your question. If there were a state tire ignitors would be it.

Ignitors suck 🙂

Spoken like a true tire whore like myself. I was just running numbers. They are to popular for me to run 😀

We should say whatever the newest and latest tire is until it fails.

Take a look at the WTB Bronsons, I've been tempted to try them, they look good for rocky/technical riding. I am also an ignitor hater. Currently running the Geax Saguaro TNT which is awesome.

I'm also racing the H2h series for 2nd time and am looking for a good tubeless tire combo on my HT 29er. weight approx. 195lbs. (1st time ever running tubeless)
I ride aggressive and don't really want to setup a "standard" tire as tubeless. So i would like a "tubeless ready" tire.

Was looking into... Wolverine/front and Nano/rear
or... Rubena Kratos/front and Rubena Scylla/rear
or... Schwalbe racing ralphs front and rear
or... Geax Segauro/front and Geax AKA/rear ...not confident bout Segauro in front thou

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I'm trying to find a good medium of speed and traction. I especially have a liking for cornering/leaning ability.

I run racing ralph's 26x2.25 on my Ti HT and find that they roll fast and grip in all of the loosest stuff for me. Tubeless w/stan's rims at 25-28 psi.

WTB velociraptors.

so far I have been pretty happy with them. nice grip in the corners and they sound cool at higher speeds, and you know how important that is:hysterica

I liked my Ignitors but switched to Ardents and am very pleased. Much faster rolling tire IMO.

Funny you mention this. I went from "fast rolling tires" Geax AKA/Hutchinson Toro - 2.2/2.1 To "slow rolling tires" Geax Gato/Sturdy - both 2.3. there has been no drop in speed during my rides (today was .5mph faster at Hartshorne), I'm not any more tired after a ride and don't really feel a difference in weight.

On the other hand, I feel more comfortable carrying speed into rock and root sections, These tires are really knobby and don't slip in turns or on anything loose and the volume allows for some playing with the psi as well as soaks up some mistakes I may make.

Basically these tire threads are crap cause people are gonna tell you to ride whatever tires they ride. Everyone's gear choice is better then the next persons...I personally like the tires Geax offers up because they are bomb proof. I've had 2 acts of magic flats in the last 3 years

Maxxis...but Ardent. Ignitors might be great (listing as a race tire makes me question rock proficiency) but I went with the Ardent because I wanted something as wide as possible for the rigid front. They have AM tread and width without the huge rolling resistance penalty. The old 2.55 WTB Weifwolf was also good on the front; slightly less rolling resistance according to my butt dyno but somewhat less grip. Not sure how the new one is.

I have a Geax in the back - think the Segauro. Awful. Good on dirt but slips on every rock (dry or wet) and every wet root regardless of tire presure. Not what you want in your area. I thought the WTB Exiwolf was good on the back when I had it. Will try the Ardent all around when the Geax wears out.

For those of you on Ignitors and 26 inch wheels...which variant are you running? I'm thinking of going with these as my first foray into tubeless.

Sorry to "bump" the thread, but I'm curious what others are running. Debating between the 2.1 and 2.35 UST Ignitors (26in) for some racing and all around riding. It sounds like they run a little narrow, so is the 2.35 still a reasonable race tire?
