Even after replacing both shifters I still end up with a broken shifter cable 1/2 way through my hilly metric ride today. Had to call my son for a ride home since going up Rocky run road in the 11 wasn’t an option.

No actually the new ones are R8000 Ultegra. my old ones were R6800s and had a known issue with fraying the cables that Shimano doesnt acknowledge or warranty. While i have tried and failed a few times to save up for a Di2 conversion, the rear and front shifter each blew up on me last year after 10+ years so I replaced them. same result so i guess Im just going to plan to change the cables every 2 months preemptively. sigh.
