No offense, but it is of my opinion that the board is getting up tight. When banning members and rejecting new comers gets joked about between members it makes the whole place look like some kind of cool kids only club to outsiders.

I don't even know what all the hub bub is about this JK guy. That is probably because i stop reading a post that is too long and doesn't grab my attention early. If you guys weren't making such a big deal about him his posts wouldn't stand out more than any others. I also have learned to read certain peoples posts more than others because after time i have noticed that the poster is either: funny, educational, or they have a cool looking avatar that gets may attention. I have to think at this point that a lot of you that are getting all worked up over him are jumping to his posts to see what ridiculousness he posts.

I've read his posts, but maybe it is because they are moved to here that makes it hard to understand why he is affecting you all so much.

There may be some truth to that. But right now is a dead season on the board. People just stop biking. I know it's hard to believe but it's true. Then you have some people who are cranky because they want to bike but the weather is bad. Add some holiday stress and it adds up to the same story every year.

It took this particular poster 77 posts to finally get the temporary ban. That's a lot of nonsense, and a lot of riff-raff, to have to wade through. Given the low amount of good discussion this time of year, it's gotten to the point where it's too much. When one of the boards best posters starts tuning out entirely, that's a bad sign.

This guy JKmacman should be on the radio he has alot of material, even after gettting banned he gets 4 pages of posts. Love or hate he gets a response. Even if you hate him you keep looking at his posts like a train wreck.
I don't think he is fishing for victims, he is just plain out there. There is no amount of time in the penelty box to "fix" him. Out of 77 posts only 2 made any sense.
I see 3 solutions.
Ban for life.
Let him continue his nonsense which attracts a crowd.
Everyone Ignore all his posts, probably the hardest to do but the best penalty.

This would hardly be an issue if it was 80 degrees and sunny right now.

I used to post in a local discussion forum and there was this guy that would tick off a bunch of posters (conservatives) in a similar fashion. He wouldn't attack anyone, he was just off the wall with his liberal thoughts, nothing offensive. The conservative posters he would tick off eventually drove him off the site. But it became very apparent after that he was missed because those people had nothing good to complain and vent about anymore.
 
id, it's really not about that. one of the things this is, was, and will continue to be about is keeping a happy community. i think we gave him plenty of chances, plenty of fair warning to please keep things at least relevant. jeezus, i mean, you can understand more of what is said in the damn VTC thread than what he was jibbing on about. but, at least there, it's contained (for the most part). when someone starts rambling on in nearly every thread and we get emails and PMs from contributing regulars we have to step in. it's not about being conservative, so to speak, but keeping things OT and at least somewhat relevant.

it really is too bad that the winter shoes thread is gone. we could direct people who think we're being conservative to that and see just what can happen when things go unchecked. that was an incredibly dark time (no pun intended wobblegong) in the boards life. we lost some really, really good folks during that time b/c of the venom that was spewed in that single thread. we are going to avoid that happening again.
 
Now the real thread that no longer exists was titled "Avatars". That was the scud missile that broke the camel's back. If you read that you'd feel about as bad as that guy who fell off the bike doing 110.
 
oh, right! that what it was. yeah, no shortage of venom in that one...or an abuse of power by some no-longer-moderator moderators.

Ben shames biking. Each indicator graduates in a cold! A chairman misdirects the layer. An alarmed husband bends the linked incident. Does biking mend ben?
