Tewksbury "Incident"

I find it interesting how there are 0 comments on the article regarding the cyclists that were run down, while there are many comments regarding the aggressive cyclists..... :hmmm:

I want an investigation like this every time someone throws some thing at a cyclist. That probably happens 20 times a day in nj alone.

(Committeeman Shaun) Van Doren said, “Those who are responsible should come forward. Otherwise Tewksbury is going to roll up the carpet and say, ‘you are not welcome, police will be looking for you, take your tours and go in another town, go on a state highway and see how well you can fight with a car.'”

This is the correct message to send!

I did TDLV also.. but the race numbers... it's generic Road ID race numbers. It doesn't really track back to TDLV participants.

But... these sh!theads will screw the rest of us roadies over.

In reading the article concerning Tewksbury they seem to keep stressing that cyclists are required by law to ride single file. As I recall the law states you can ride 2 wide and as far to the right as practicable(safe) as long as faster traffic is not being impeded. There seems to be a lot of mis information on both sides. While I chose not to defend either side in this situation( I wasn't there) , any time spent on the road on either a bike or car will point out that there are assholes on both sides. Remember most if not all of those cyclists probably drove to the start of the ride and in this country most non cycling motorists feel you should be riding on the sidewalk or bike path. Be careful out there!

Clearly I am way biased...

And I happen to be fairly observant. I have smashed a few vehicles im my time (take it how you want to). The mirror that was allegedly damaged by the mob has a streak of white paint on it. So am I to believe that some guy decided to play chicken with his white DeRosa and the mirror. Take a good look; the markings of the damage clearly indicate a brush with something that used to have white paint on it. It's not primer since there are 2 different surfaces with the same marking. It was caused by something moving in the direction of the car with enough force to break the mirror housing as well. Go punch the back of your car mirror and see if you can break it. The way the plastic is molded the highest strength is at the surface adjacent to the apex of the elliptoid. This chick ran into something. SAD!

I guess the those white Sidis leave streaks of paint behind.

I thought the same thing concerning the damage to the mirror. I expected to scroll down and see a cyclist on the road in a bloody heap based on the severity of the damage to the mirror.

Also, I have done a few group rides with Marty's guys. They usually ignore cars that "buzz" them as par for the course. Something else must have happened for such a large group to "attack" this car.

I understand that mob mentality can kick in with large groups, but something just does not add up here. Perhaps it is due to the fact that it was a young driver in Daddy's car. I have experienced some fairly young drivers doing stupid stuff and being unable to gauge distance on the opposite side of the vehicle. I even had one get out of a car and yell at me for not riding on the sidewalk even though there was a clear lane to pass by - but the cop in the parking lot came over to explain the law.

IMO at a red light that I TOTALLY expectable. It keeps cars from coming up on the left and gunning it to make a right in front of the group. It also is safer for ppl clipping back in at the restart of the ride. If someone slipped up and fell while a car was trying to get by it could be fatal.

Now of they are riding like that and blocking traffic well that's a whole other story.

At a red light, I see nothing wrong with this. Where was this pic taken? If it was Warren County then it probably was the Skylands Sunday morning ride. Bummer I was in the dog house from staying out to late on Saturday or I would have been in this pic too!

I will post the video of them riding 4 wide on that road

the guy in the yellow went 3 feet into the opposing lane to get to the front of the pack
