Those are some crazy pictures, better grab a snow mobile for next year 😀

So, is every street like that? Or are some streets drifted worse than others?

I had an interesting drive into Manasquan this morning. On Rt 195 eastbound, once you got past Rt 9, things got strange. The highway would randomly narrow down to one lane and then weave back and forth. I suspect there were a couple cars buried under the snow forcing the plows to improvise. I saw 4-5 cars just sitting in the median, abandoned. There were dozens of spots where you could tell a vehicle had been pulled out of the snow.

Once off 195, onto 35. The silliness continued. Exits off the highway did not have lanes. They were just right angle turns. My exit went over the curb and grass a little. 😱 I noticed the ramp in the other direction is simply closed with some traffic cones.

I hear it is much worse elsewhere but thought I'd share.

I experienced the same thing, with the lanes just ending because of the snow. I had to travel to Long Island yesterday for work, and out of nowhere the lane filled up with snow! and it was the left lane!!! very dangerous!!!

i have no idea. after matty installed it this stuff appeared all over it the next day. i tried to warranty it but he's always been too busy riding or something like that 😉



actually its my 2 year olds art work. media: float glass, crayola window crayons.

these crayons wipe off sparkly clean with a baby wipe. handy things to hand to a kid when they want to scribble all over... everything. he's in his post-modern-neo-classic-impressionist phase, i think. it's a waterfall, can't you see it?
 
Lunch time excursion on the cross bike to get food. Went down once and busted my ass. Still stuck working from home but I can see pavement now on some roads. Hopefully going in tomorrow. At least Surf Taco was open.

My road was fine throughout the storm - the DPW in Rumson is top notch - they even picked up garbage on Tuesday morning the 28th. I went out the night of the 26th to get something at my sis-in-law's house. It was nasty. Gave a friend a ride to Barnacle Bills and with the wind off the Navesink it was like getting out of a heli on top of a mtn.

Some places like Val's were opened on the 27th which was cool - people from the neighborhood were walking the streets to go there.

I only got stuck once trying to get thru a 4' pile of windblown. The old Defender did pretty good in the white stuff. 34" Swampers help. Hopefully for the next storm I'll have new lockers in the diffs.

I grew up plowing snow up in MA. With a storm like this the amount of snow and with how fast it came - the plows just couldn't keep up.

I heard from friends that run plows in the area that they couldn't get out as the roads were bad right off the bat (also add the day after Xmas where people were busy and might not be so in tuned with the storm situationor away on vacation). A storm this size you would normallly be out plowing right from the start and make piles that would be compacting the snow as they were built. Not to mentions plowing 3" of snow at a time.

So the plows were finally able to go out when the snow was done with accumalations of 2+ ft with snow dirfts close to 5+ ft. Pushing that much snow around is tough on a truck especially the smaller rigs. Hydro plow lines and trannies blow and the trucks get stuck. Piles are hard to make as you can't get the snow across the lot or driveway or street.

Yeah, a very crazy storm - wish I was near a hill with some altitude and steep pitches and it would have been siiiick.
 
I think that not being able to plow the snow with a standard pickup truck had a lot to do with it. The only truck able to get down my street with a plow was the big ass mack dump truck full of salt.
 
Not to make light of a difficult situation, but listening to people bitch on NJ 101.5 over the past few days had been pretty entertaining.
 
It was a neighbor at the end of the street that had been plowed that cleared our whole block with a regular pick up truck with plow. It took him about a half hour to clear from one end to the other. Finally got the car out and got him a case of beer. Ironically, when I got back the town then came through and blocked me back in the driveway. A little more digging and free again. Still a bunch of streets untouched around here though.

A good thing was stuck in the house with wife and kids and NO major confrontations! About 12 years ago we were all stuck in the car on 380 going to the Poconos for 18 hours (Anyone remember that freaky Easter storm? 70 on Easter and huge snowstorm the day after). I think it prepped us good for any future situations.

Hey, our street and neighbor that plowed made the Asbury Park Press today in the "residents that took matters in their own hands" article. Pat O'Rourke and Morrisey Rd. Looks like more cases of beer are on their way.

Ocean County toms river

This was taken early morning snow was still coming down and the drift grew over the car in the drive way. didnt take more pics too upset the plows didnt come down my street till 600pm that night, but i cant complain after seeing in the news about Neptune and Brick people not being plowed out for days...
