SiDi SPD repair tip?

Greeting all.

Wondering if anyone has suggestions on how to glue a sole of a SiDi SPD MTB shoe. My SiDi sole is separating form the toe and is about 1/4 of the way separated. the shoe is about 1.5 years old and out of warrant of course... but for a 200+ dollar shoe I was hoping to get more use out of them. Any suggestions on a glue I could use?

Cheers!

I used a polyurethane adhesive that i purchased from the home depot PL Premium is the name , I used it on my motocross boots that the front sole was separated and has held through many races and the Baja 1000 , and shows no signs of separation

If you can figure out a way to get a c-clamp in there you can use gorilla glue. I have used that to re glue the sole on some workboots. But it only works well if you can use a clamp.

Yeah, get some burly glue and a C-clamp. Clean the area as best you can, Glue it up, clamp it together and let the glue set up for a day or so. That will at least work for a while I think.

I've been frustrated with the durabilty of recent Sidi shoes... to the point that I'll be trying something else next time around. I've been riding Dom 4's and 5's for years and the newest iterations are just not as nice.

might be worth your time to get in touch with a regional sales manager and let them know this discussion is happening....maybe get some satisfaction from them.

I've used shoe-goo and a C-clamp with decent success...however it doesn't last more than about 20 MTB rides. My best bet was taking them to a cobbler (Rago's in Morristown, across from Marty's). $15 for both shoes, still going strong.

This is true. My first pair of dominators lasted 8 or 9 years. The ones after that the buckle assembly started coming off of it and this latest pair had the sole coming off it after a year.
I glued it back on with JB weld as per GT Luke's recomendation. They've held up good so far.

Question: aside from the age of the shoe, how much use have you gotten out of them?
i.e. only a handful of rides, or hundreds?

If only a handful, then see what the sales rep can do for you.
If you rode them every day in all kinds of conditions, then they may have exceeded their useful life.

Take them to a shoemaker, i had a pair of specialized shoes sewn 2 years ago and he charged me 10 bucks. Cant go wrong.

Glad a found this. My Lake mx190s sole came off this past weekend and had to flap my way home for a few miles. Will have to check to see if the cobbler is still there in Morristown. Otherwise they are like new. Frustrating. For the cost of mtb shoes they should last forever.

There is a guy in Flemington if you can come down this way. He repaired my favorite Teva's for $15.

Are they less than 2 years old ?

This was 2 years ago at round valley. Saved me from ripping the sole completely off on these Lakes. Pretty sure I just chucked them after this.
