Rockshox Pike 327 junk

I've got a 2009 Specialized Pitch. It has a Rockshox Pike 327 fork from the factory. This fork is made by Rockshox for Specialized to keep the price of the bike down. At the begining of the year I broke the rebound damping rod which caused the fork to lock up. Beachwood bikes contacted Rockshox and got it covered. I went riding today, nothing big at all and the fork locked up again.
Should I just bite the bullet and replace this fork or should I fix it again?

SRAM should warranty this again if they approved it last time. By all means, get it fixed. The Pike isn't in the current Rockshox lineup anymore (since the Revelation travel was increased to make it redundant), but it definitely is not a low end POS fork. It sounds to me like something wasn't quite right with the service you just had done. I used to own a Pike and found it to be very reliable and highly tunable. The 327 model isn't the lightest one out there, but it's definitely worth salvaging assuming SRAM will cover the repair again.

You should ask TimWarchol to call SRAM on your behalf because everytime something breaks, he seems to end up with a free upgrade :hmmm:

Definitely try to get it fixed/replaced again. Make them stand by their stuff. When you get it back...Sell It!!! Get something that works.

Thats kind of what I was thinking. I have no faith in this fork any more. Thank good it didn't lock up last Sunday when I was at Spring Mtn. I would have been pretty hurt if it locked up in the middle of a downhill rock garden.

Very true. In all honesty, Give SRAM a call. explain it is the second time that it had happened, and the fact that you weren't doing anything seriously hard. The Pike being out of their line up would prob. have them upgrade you to something better now 😀

Pike

I have heard of a Fox 36 Talas RC2 that is slightly used but totally ready for a new relationship! The fork problems would end forever just like that.

I called Sram today and didn't get a good feeling at all with the guy I talked with. He told me they have no problems with this fork but all the ones that had the same failure they rebuilt completely for free. But they have no problems.:hmmm: I bit the bullet and bought the Fox Talas 36.

Any one want to buy a Rockshox Pike 327? When it comes back it's up for sale.
