Road ID

I would completely recommend getting one if you don't have one. I was nearly killed back in April and having one would have helped quite a bit. Trying to mumble my cell phone password through a broken face wasn't too easy considering I was also going in and out of consciousness. Normally i had a piece of paper with contact info but had forgotten to make a new one when it got ratty. Had I been wearing one, they would have immediately known my blood type and my girlfriends contact info. I'm always wearing mine when I ride now.😎

Just ordered a blue ankle ID.

Better safe than sorry. I went riding while it was slightly raining yesterday fully reflective with lights. One guy in an SUV still acted like a douche and came within a foot of me. 😱

Hopefully it arrives before I go to Colorado for Labor Day.

I am going to order one of these, but before I do, I have a question. I called them but they are not open today.

So, what is the real benefit of having the Interactive ID as opposed to the Original? I do not really understand. At first, I thought the benefit was that your information was not visible on the bracelet so that it would not be as accessible or fall into the wrong hands. But even if you lose it, your profile can be accessed by anyone who gets it because the PIN# is on the back.

In fact, it seems that the Original would be better because whoever finds you can have your information quicker, and call whoever you have on it. Also, regarding the interactive, I know that when I am on the phone listening to a phone number or medical information, I won't remember it all. I would need to write it down. And who is going to have a pen and paper when MTB'ing?

So, what is the angle here that I do not see?

TIA

Unless you have a very detailed medical history and/or your contacts wont answer the phone. I dont see much use for it. Save the extra bucks and buy a spare tube.

I just recieved mine in the mail today. Very Nice!

I suspect it would be beneficial for someone who has a complex medical history or often changes addresses.

Imagine some older folks who have severe allergies or are popping prescription drugs like candy each morning. That stuff doesn't fit on the ID.

3 weeks ago I took 2 spills at Mahlon . The first was a slow motion over bars kinda thing and I scraped up my right wrist , the wrist I wear my ID on.
10 minutes later I took a very nasty spill flying over a rock that I hit every weekend .
Needless to say upon reading this thread I couldn't find my ID . Searched the house , my camelback, the car etc...
This morning we checked the rock where I did my OTB and sure enough there it was . It was unlikely to be seen because the rock is about 2 ft off the regular trail but definitely rideable , Ive done it before .

Just the pin was missing connecting the strap to the clasp . I'll send it in for a quickie repair .

I got one a couple months ago. I got the original in yellow (I like that it is sporty). It makes it so I don't need to carry my license and covers me if I forget to bring or if I break my phone. My take is if I am injured I don't want to be a Jane Doe while they sort things out after they have saved my life. I'm pushing my sister and her boyfriend who do a lot of running to get them also. They carry way less on them than us cyclists do.

I agree, that is why I went the other route.

As you guys know from my post above , I trashed my ID and it needed to be repaired . I sent an email asking if they could just send me the replacement pin or if I needed to send it in for service.
This is the email I received today.
Hello Mike,

Wow, how fortunate it is that you found your ID. That seems to rarely happen.

I am happy to hear that you are ok.

Also, we have a new revised style Elite band that I would like to send you at no charge. This has a security latch to ensure that this does not happen again. This will ship tomorrow.

Can I have it shipped to:
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

And is the black band the color you would like?

If I can be of further assistance, please let me know.

Be safe out there,
