Raystown Lake maps?

I'm going down for a few days for work and can't come back home without having riden the area trails. Any input in routes and maps would be apreciated.

I haven't made it out there yet, but the trails are supposedly very well marked. This map should be all you need:

I would suggest riding Hydro and Ray's Revenge in the direction they have listed, and the other trails in whatever way you need to make it a loop.

don't do like us and do Osprey in the wrong direction....ride that one TOWARD the Hydro Loop, not AWAY from it, lol....unless you like to be tortured climbing....lol

You don't really need it -- there are maps at many of the trailheads. And the trails are so well marked, you can't really get lost. And it actually doesn't matter which way you go -- there is great flow in any direction.

Its true. Almost every trail is great in either direction and very well marked. I think there is one trail; Rays > Sidewinder which has tabletops, doubles and banked turns that would suck to climb. It may even be marked to descend only. All the other trails are good to go... even the longer climbs like Osprey flow very well.

Stop in at Rothrock outfitters in Hunterdon. They've got a really nice plasticized map that they sell for a few bucks to help subsidize trail maintenance costs. The guys there have been instrumental in making the Raystown trails what they are today. I've ridden with them and I'm sure they'll be happy to map a route for you that would maximize the flow.

this is all we used

It all depends how much you wanna ride, but here's a typical loop that I would at least start out with and assess from there.

I park up top off baker's hollow road in the parking area just before susquehannock road down to the campground. This should be about ~20 miles according to the map distances, but that sounds longer than it feels.

Buck <-- Allie <-- Grippis <-- Ridge <-- Ray's Revenge <-- Sidewinder --> Osprey --> Sleek Dog --> Eagle --> Hydro Loop --> Osprey --> Fawn <-- Buck.

Thanks, we were thinking of doing 20-30 miles per day.

there is also a whole other side to the network that isn't on the printed map that MikeP posted. From the parking lot I mentioned its to your right (if you're facing the woods) down the "old loggers trail" (its called something like that). And obvioulsy you can add on pretty easily as the loops are stacking. Have fun.

Can you guys recommend a hotel in the area?

last year i stayed at the comfort inn, great price, clean and close to town, about 20 minutes from trailhead. the only drawback is that it's next to the train tracks, and the trains run all night long.

this year it's booked on the weekend i'm going so i'm trying the millstone manor.
