post your century rides.

here's mine from last weekend - one of my better average speed rides.

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/44500009

was going to do the ramapo rally one today, but a sore knee meant i only did the 65 mile ride (80 miles including to and from home).

Thats an incredible avg for 5 hrs, and your heart rate is still low.
21.3 mph avg.
135 avg. Heart rate.
Where you drafting or was this a solo ride? aero bars? skin suit? towed by a car?
Those are norm numbers without the high heart rate.
nice century.

Wow, thanks 😀
It was a nice flat ride mostly in a group, hence the low heart rate - in fact, i dont think it could have been much flatter 😉 I was in a decent group most of the way, with the exception of about the first 45 minutes and about the last hour (where my heart rate and effort picked up considerably). no chance that i would have got those numbers the whole way by myself, nowhere near fit enough yet!
thanks

Jersey Shore Loop

Cool - I didn't see this thread before. Here's my first century - calling the spider carrying a flag loop.

A bit round about since I didn't have a definite loop, was flying solo and using my house as a refuling station half way. Not recommended on peak fist pumping summer weekends. 😀

Hey Liong, we missed each other in Ramapo Rally. I saw Cyclopath and she told me that day that you were there too.

Here's my first barely Century ride in Ramapo Rally. My century was a little over half a mile short of a Century, I got ripped off of half mile by BTCNJ. 😀

And a short video clip of my ride in Ramapo Rally.

CINJ Century for the Cure Plus Some Sourlandz

Here is the cancer institute of NJ Century for the Cure route, plus alittle extra through the sourlands.

I had planned to start slower since I was trying to pace myself to end when my wife at the end so my son could see me ride in, but I couldnt find rlb, so I just started at the front. I quickly found 2 of the riders I rode with last year and we had a small group through the small. Soon after that a bigger group came past and we hopped on. This group had some really sketchy riders and I almost slammed into the back of one of them as he slammed on the brakes going over a manhole. At somepoint I was on the front and a small hill came and all of those sketchy dudes fell off and we didnt wait 😀, so back to the orginal group.

Soon after we skipped the first rest stop and another guy from last year showed up and we moved along. Around MP 50, I knew I would finish way before my wife would get there, so when staright on long hill instead of making the right on wertsville. From here I took a little tour of the sourlands and looped back to wertsville. It was an absolute beutiful day and I took full advantage of it. It was also nice knowing there were 2 more fully stocked rest areas waiting for me, so the extra miles didnt seem too bad.

So back on the course and there were no groups to be found. I would see people in the distance and eventually pass them. I took my time at the last two stops since I would still beat my wife there. I rode the last 70 miles (50 on the regular route) by myself and some of the slight headwinds had me hurting a bit. I chatted with a few people here and there but most of them were going pretty slow, so I just stayed by myself.

My wife was running later than expected, so I climbed up Hill Crest Rd to 78 and chilled there for awhile until she came by. Then I rode in and my son was waiting for me on his balance bike, so we rode across the finish together.

It was an awesome day weather wise and I felt super on the bike and I was stoked on the ride. 120 miles in total.

This was also rlb's first century minus the sourlands section.

Nice recap. And I like how you casually threw in an extra 20 miles just to kill time 😀

I'll admit that looking like a sketchy dude was probably my biggest worry, and in the midst I did two stupid things in a row. I recapped my ride here. It was a ton of fun and everyone involved was super cool.

Rode the NYC Century yesterday...in the rain...my riding buddy got THREE flats, we took one wrong turn, but overall, quite a great experience. Due to the fact that there are exactly 5 million stop lights and stop signs throughout the ride we managed to coast in at 6' 58" rolling time. Not exactly the fastest century I've ever ridden but I got to see so many parts of the city I've never seen before. Also, I don't think there was one part of my body that wasn't wet by the time I finished. [squish squish]

Twin Lights Ride

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/50670286

Completed the twin lights ride today. Somewhere along the lines i lost 2 miles, everyone else was at 92 while i was still at 90. Maybe the overcast and the heavy tree coverage at some points messed it up... maybe my gut hit a button I didn't know about since i just got the 705 yesterday lol.

Beautiful ride guys. My first century. I'm glad i picked up this hobby.

In the morning an officer was stopping traffic for us when me made the left onto locust ave over the water.

On the way back we had the other rides taking up a lot of the lanes and the cars had no choice but to yield. There were marshalls along that avenue though to make sure everyone was ok.

A lot of people were walking up that last stretch of climb :drooling: to 36. The group I was in dug in hard to maintain a good pace.:getsome:

Epic ride

My buddy and I rode to Bear Mountain from Jersey City today. I had 106miles on odo. He probably has 114(lives 4 more miles South)I never did that 5 miles of climbing to Perkins before after 48 miles on the road. I really enjoyed that hill. I will probably do this again next spring.

Its great century riding weather folks! Only needed to make one stop to fill the water bottles Sunday. C'mon Liong I want to hear about your century rides, where you been?

Oct. 17 Farmlands to Sourlands
Fairly flat with some climbing in Sourlands. Took a wrong turn on Zion rd. for extra climbing.:drooling:
This is a fun ride that incorporates Princeton, Sourlands, and 6-miles all in one ride.

Oct. 31 Hill and Dale
This ride was awesome. More climbing but nothing brutal, except for the wrong turn I made onto Drakestown rd.(whenever I make a wrong turn it leads to climbing) This ride was really motivating, beautiful day, discovering great cycling roads. My in-laws live in Califon and I have traveled the major roads out that way but cycling the back roads gives a greater appreciation for the area.

Man I really like Hill and dale.. Gonna see if i can ride this one of the upcoming weekends.

definitely check out Pleasant grove rd. heading towards Califon, Guinea Hollow rd and Hill and Dale rd. You can park your car in Chester off of 206 (there are plenty of parking lots) and do the counter clockwise loop. This loop is 50+ miles. Plenty of spots to stop and refuel(quick check, rite aide).
