My buddy has a house in Lake Harmony in the Poconos. We're lookin to go and ride some trails for a day or two. I know there is good stuff all over Jim Thorpe. Can any of you guys give me specifics of good trails you've enjoyed riding their or where to get some info.

I will be riding with beginners/intermediates so I am looking for something for everyone generally we ride Chimney rock, 6 mile, round valley, a little sourlands.

Is anyone familiar with hickory run state park or big boulder field? Someone mentioned those two to me an told me to check them out. I figured if nothing else I would be able to get a map of trails around Jim Thorpe and get some info from some of the locals etc. But again any info is helpful.
Thanks

Not sure how close they are to your buddies place but check out...

fell mountain, aka merl-sarnoski park in carbondale
prompton lakes state park

both have a bunch of singletrack.

they used to have a race at fell mountain years ago and we would road trip out to prompton from time to time.

lehigh park has some riding out that way.

i only know the masthope/lake wallenpaupack areas. the riding out in the masthope area is weird. its mostly state game lands, which has hunters galore. the trails are not maintained, and will literally just disappear for a while.

This is the year of more Pa riding for me. Buddy lives up in Honesdale and keeps trying to get me up to Prompton, I must go. Going to Lackawanna state park to camp and ride in June. Raystown in July and want to put that Moonlake in my plans too...

I also figured if nothing else I would stop in the bike shop in downtown jim thorpe (if there are any) for some advice on where to ride.

Blue Mountain Sports was (is?) the big shop in town in Jim Thorpe. Website looks super oldschool though http://www.bikejimthorpe.com/
I've heard of people riding the Switchback, Broad Mountain, and American Standard a lot.
