dudeman, she even kills you climbing stairs.....
That shit was no joke. I mean it was at maybe 8,000 feet (the steps are in Seven falls, not Pikes Peak as Fartin Martin mentioned. But we ended up doing the 185 steps plus the 225 over the waterfall. What a freaking way to get your heart rate up.

lol at mandi climbinb pikes peak in flip flops!!! that's awesome
It was 89 degrees at the base, and about 40 degrees at the Summit.

gtluke can clear those steps
I was thinking about how badass it would be to see that, but then I thought about how messy the water would be.

You're still in Colorado?

Sadly, No. I was going to message Norm personally and ask him to update it, but I know he is a busy man and does not have the time to set aside a quick change. Have you read his stuff? That must take days to prepare/setup. I had one post like that and it drained me for the rest of the week.

That was from when Halters before we started on our ride. Dustin had a nice plastic bag on his bike. He also wore a plastic bag when it started to rain. I kid. We did about 20 and got rained on for the last 5. Trying to get out more on the road bike so riding in the woods feels like riding on the road bike, speed wise :getsome:

Can anyone tell how many times you press the "New Post" button? I think I win for the most hits.

You can do an advanced search for your name and "threads started by this user". It says you have 80 and I have 31. But I don't know if it goes back to the beginning of time.

Oh come now. I'm not that busy. You're all updated with a new location description for the live stuff.

Did norm make a creative title for the live blog posts?

The 6pm Road Ride
So the plan for yesterdays road ride turned into some intersting fun. Mandi, Dustin, Bill and I planned to do a quick 20 mile loop on mostly flat terrain. Manny decided to come along and take us up through the Sourlands for a road ride. Thank you Bill for the GPS Route. This would be the longest I have rode without "stopping" (Mandi and I did the NYC Century but stopped every 30 miles at the water stations), The fastest I've ever been on my road bike (lets round up to 40MPH because it sounds better than 39) and the most climbing I've done in a ride.

The hill beat me up. I think it beat most of us up. I did make it up the hill, but it did get the best of me. I was smoked at the top of it and felt my heart rate jump pretty damn high. I'd like to hit it once a week and recover faster at the top of it.

The last 1/3 of the ride (from Grandview Road) Was pretty much in the dark. Kind of freaky. I felt good after the ride. I felt like I never really bonked on the ride. I really want to hit that hill once a week. Just need to remember how to get out that way.

Boringggg
So since I'm not in Colorado anymore, I really don't have anything exciting to write about. I do the same normal shit rides that I do every week, so unless something different comes up I will let you know.

(Enter what Norm would call this ride here)
I read the rules of a Death March and I don't think its fair that the only criteria is hours and time limit. I think a Death March north of 80 is going to be ten times harder than one south of 78. This would emulate RU Chris' ride, so I will have to collab with him (even though I have never met him). I will try and coin a new term for the little sister ride I would want to prepare. Any thoughts are welcome.

Things I've been thinking about for the rest month:
Is it going to you-know-what for Jorbafest?
Should I bring my bike to Jorbafest?
Am I wasting my time bringing Dustins dead bike to the Jorbafest swap meet?
Rigid or Reba for LM?
Need to learn the route we took with Wild Man Manny in the dark twisty roads of Hillsborough/Montgomery.

Interesting. I may need to come up with some new qualifications for a Death March. Maybe it needs to have some certain percentage on actual ST, so that would knock out the canal.

I was thinking more along the lines of elevation. Wouldn't really be anything "Deathly" about the ride I would do.

After looking at liong's GPS, you should be able to hit 43-45 riding back from the canal the Route 27.

Oooh you guts were looking to do 20? Oops. My bad. Or yours. Bring a light you n00bs!

The ride was semi mayhem but next time I will bring hell! We can do all that go north of Amwell into rolly Neshanic, climb up Montgomery/Zion, bomb down Province Line, and go through the Asylum. It will put us about 60+. How about Sunday? 😉 If trail conditions prove greasy on Sunday I'm hitting the road. My last freedom ride! We can start 9am but bring a light still 😀

it only took 2 years in this biking world for someone to call me by my proper nickname. Kudos.

20 was what I thought we could do with the light situation 😉

I had a good time. I liked the ride. Need to learn it.

Last freedom ride? So you'll soon be a slave like us?

I think the plan was to do a NYC loop on Sunday with urrrbody.

I'm in, and as Dustin as my witness i think the exact words were, " I don't give a F what you do"

I plan on eating a hot dog every time Lou eats or cramps😀
