Niner One 9

Anyone have any thoughts on the Niner One 9. I am looking for a single speed. Some of the reviews on MTBR do not give very good reviews on the EBB.

Thanks.

The older style ebb had some creaking issues. This was supposedly cured with the new style one. Anything 2011 (maybe 2010 not sure) and up should have it. So see the reviews for this bikes. I know one of the mechanics at the shop I work at had one and he loved it

It's not bad!

I have a S.I.R. 9 setup ss and the ebb works pretty good. They did come out with a newer one and I think it has two bolts instead of the one. I'm not sure on this so if I'm wrong please somebody correct me on this.

I am a niner dealer. I stopped selling their bikes w/ ebbs. Their design is a headache.

I was one of the victims. My hatred for my One9 is well documented here. It was awful, I hated it. I wanted to blow the bike up. Niner replaced the first frame, then they replaced my second frame. On my third frame, Niner team mechanic Mike Stanley himself set it up for me. Told me I was "good to go". He was right, because 18 minutes after he gave it to me I brought it right back( not really, but you get what I am saying).

I was having bad thoughts, at one point I was so frustrated with the bike I was going to sawsall the bottom bracket out of the frame and mail it to Niner with a note saying "finally fixed". I eventually sent them an email that said I would be leaving my bike at a local trail head because I was that disgusted with it. They offered me another One9 but I told them to keep it, and I ended up getting an Air9 instead.

Id say look elsewhere.

I have a SIR 9 and had issues with EBB, finally fixed it with some teflon paste, which Niner now recommends...hoping the new EBB is even better, as a year in, I'm starting to start to hear a little noise coming back...if you can get the EBB quiet, it is a great bike.

I started out with a gary fisher rig and now have the trek version. I would go with the 2014 trek superfly ss or maybe a previous years closeout. The specialized stumpjumper ss is nice also.

man, i must be in the minority with the EBB. i had no slipping issues at all with my Sir. the only time there was any problem was when i tried to pull it after two years and spent three hours doing it. that was miserable...but that was more user error than anything.

from what i understand, the new one is better but the real fix for it is to get a bushnell EBB.

that said, if you're looking for an SS specific frame, there are lots of options.
