Lets start this by saying yes I said I would never buy anything Niner. Well I couldn't wait any longer for Ragley to get his fork done and the deal from our friends at Darkhorse just couldn't be passed up.
Been riding rigid exclusively for about a year on both bikes and on and off the past 3 years. I have had a few different setups so I can make judgement on this to the others. On my ALC SS I run the misfit AL fork and it has surprisingly good performance for an aluminum fork. On the FE geared I was running an custom OX platinum steel fork.
Recently I purchased a niner carbon fork to put on the FE and have now had about 6-8 solid rides in varying terrain. I have had the Origin8 carbon fork in the past and must say it wasn't my cup of tea. Reason I swapped out from steel was a large weight savings as the steel also had a steel steering tube.
I can tell you this out of all the rigid forks I have been on this fork out shines them all two fold. There is no comparison. I almost forget that it is a rigid fork. I don't have one bad thing to say and still can't get over how well this fork tracks. Also by having the feather weight up front it makes cake out of manualing the front end through techy terrain. It really eats chatter up and has been one of the single best upgrades I have made in quite some time.
I will still prolly pick up the Ragley when it finally lands and move this fork over to the SS but for now I'm really enjoying my NINER fork...
