Let me just start off by letting you guys know that this isn't my first forum. I have a part of many ATV and MC racing forums. Anyway

But I am new to mountain bikes. A friend and I became interested in getting into the sport because I had quit racing quads and needed to be in the woods racing still. He has a 3 year old Trek 4500 and I just went out and bought a '10 SE 3900.

We are from the Levittown area across from Trenton so we are right in central jersey. We are looking for some fun trails to ride. Good uphills and it has to be technical. I cannot stand switching from racing a 50" wide quad in the woods and barley missing trees, to riding a mountain bike and having a trail too wide.

Where would be a some fun places like that to ride?

Thanks
Steve

There are MANY places (Jungle Hab, off the top of my head) where a 26" handlebar width is too wide.

Welcome aboard check out mercer park there are some serious tight trails out there...

See i was gonna go to mercer but the guys at my bike shop said that it isnt that great? I think baldpate is where im gonna go this weekend.

Mercer is as good as you make it. Can be plenty of fun.

Welcome!

Definetly check out Mercer, Baldpate & Idlewood (Neshaminy HS) and try and make the weekly beginner rides @ Allaire starting in May... only 40 minutes from Trenton and a ton-o-fun.

+1 what this guy said...

mercer has some very tight/narrow trails...especially when the vegetation starts growing (now)...however the park overall is relatively flat but you can still put in some decent miles there...

also i suggest wearing tights while it is still relatively cool...unless you like picking ticks off your legs or getting somekind of poison ivy...and deer...they seem to be even more stupid there....

could you give me more info on these beginner rides? Who host's them and dates and times?

We do the group called ATUG, Allaire Trail Users group. Its something we do every season for the new bike riders to give them the opportuity to show them around allaire, have some fun, crack jokes on the wookie, and did i say have fun.. its a beginner pace ride, So if your looking to go fast, and bomb, this ride will not be for you. We ride at the pace of the last rider..its all fun and plus you get to meet some folks on this site and have a blaast..

Welcome aboard, I live near Trenton and actually work in Trenton, def check out baldpate and washington crossing park. Mercer is good to fly through there really isn't much climbing. (as stated carries lots of ticks) I ride Allaire with a buddy all the time we could meet up and ride sometimes just let me know.
