Hey gals!! I hope you have been enjoying the summer on your bikes! So, I am looking for some feedback from you guys. I am starting a personal blog for those who want to read it. The subject matter will be the point of view of a female mtn biker who is new to the sport and I am planning on writing about my experiences starting in the sport and my mistakes and successes by trial and error in hopes that it may help any other new girls who want to join the sport. I am also going to do race and trail reviews, short write ups/suggestions/reviews of equipment, clothing, bikes, other website etc. It will pretty much be a way for me to document my experiences so that others can benefit or learn from it or just have another point of view honestly. So I am looking to see if you have any suggestions of what you would like to see in a blog like this or what would help pull you in to read it. any suggestions are extremely appreciated. I am excited to get my thoughts/experiences out there in a positive way and maybe help other girls who are scared to get into the sport or are looking to get into mtn biking and eliminate some of the headaches I went through.

Always interesting to hear all the stories and points of view--- looking forward to reading!!

I will post on here when its ready! Also, the bug repellant works so far 😀

😀

just remember since you are not putting it on clothes, bugs can still get on your clothes and travel to a spot that doesnt have the oil on it. So still check yourself periodically when out in the woods.

Sounds good!!! It's close to impossible to get started in this sport...I often feel 'stuck' - the trails and organized rides are typically too difficult. You need someone that knows the trails with experience to take you out riding and that is not easy to do unless you have a great friend who happens to be a great teacher and can also ride fairly locally. I live way out in Hunterdon - the easier rides are 1.5 - 2 hours away which does not work for me.

Are you too far from Six Mile Run? I've seen some beginner rides go out of there recently, including one hosted by Arwen's Mom

Thanks, I'm not too far, and I actually just spoke with her today and hope to do some rides this August. I used to ride a lot - Deer Path at Allamuchy, even Chimney Rock, but that was *years* ago when I had 2 male friends (both extremely experienced/ranked riders) who would take me on the trails...everyone here seems too far away, too advanced, or our schedules don't mesh...but it's ok, I still ride even on my own and always have a blast. 🙂

Been quiet here on girls thread.....What's everyone been doin? I had a cool road ride today. Went solo & without a plan. It's a rare occurrence to have a kid free day, and no work. Feels really good--much needed. (32miles ) Not much to some, but great for me !! I'm looking forward to Sept.& getting out more. We will have to get a girls ride together!!
