Music

I'm a huge fan. One of my favorite bands of all time.

I have this on dvd, so I've watched it about a zillion times already.

I'm a huge GBV fan myself, just didn't see the post. Alien Lanes, Bee Thousand, Isolation Drills, Earthquake Glue -- a lot of great great albums.

Have either of you listened to any of Pollard's solo stuff.....I havent yet.....just curious?

I have most of it, there are some real gems. Check out Robert Pollard and His Soft Rock Renegades, which is a great, often pretty fierce garage-rock album, and From a Compound Eye, which was the first post-GBV solo album.

I think he fell into kind of a rut for a while, just making album after album with Todd Tobias, and not being pushed by a band collaboration. I've not picked up some of the most recent stuff.

Any Dallas Cowboys fans???

I guess since they have no luck in the playoffs they are trying their luck at METAL :getsome:😀

Greenday and my broken nose

Went to see Greenday at MSG Tuesday and had a good time up until some dude having fun in the pit slipped and fell into my nose....WACK!!!' broken and blood everywhere... Fat chance of me going to a hospital in NYC so went home and saw a doctor today... Well surgery 7:00 am tomorrow to fix it... So looks like I will miss some time on my bikes.... The broken nose isn't a big deal, missing riding time sucks!!!! If my nose wasn't way out of place, I would just leave it alone... P.S. I stayed and saw the rest of the show. They played for 3 hours...:getsome:

I finally got the new Dream Theater!!

So I busted my booty before I could go out and get the new DT and Itunes doesn't have the 3-disc version...I'm now healed enough to venture out to Best Buy and picked up that and the Chaos in Motion DVD...Both are of course, excellent!! But being that Elzoller and I may be the only 2 DT fans 'round here? Too bad I'm missing the show in Asbury in a couple weeks🙁

-Jim.

...Part I: The Journey of Beginnings, which buzzes with flashes of Iron Maiden’s gritty conceptual metal, Dave Mustaine/Megadeth lightning-speed riffing, Dream Theater’s sweeping storytelling, Yngwie Malmsteen’s neo-classical minor-scale mining, The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway-era Genesis atmospherics, Kansas’ busy symphonic boogie-rock, classical guitar beauty and flair, and Rush’s dark ‘70s sci-fi/fantasy explorations....

Hey Elzoller, have you listened to Spheric Universe Experience? Or Thought Chamber? I have some of their stuff and it's quite Dream Theater'esque. Albeit SUE has some jazzish lines throw in here and there, cool stuff...

-Jim.

pshh, rhapsody aint no viking metal. Turisas, on the other hand, should pretty much be the definition of it. In the vain of Norse inspired music, Wintersun and Ensiferum are cool beans.

I'll throw in The Human Abstract's early ep and first album, Nocturne, in to the prog pool.
