Mountain Creek

I am thinking of going to Mountain creek for the first time on Saturday. I do not have a down hill bike, just a full suspension bike. I was wondering if this was okay or I would have to rent a DH bike there for the day? Any other advice would also be great.
Thanks
Dan

I wouldn't ride just any full suspension bike there other than a freeride/dh bike. It really wont be fun. You're just going to get the crap beat out of you and punish your bike more than it was probably designed for. Best bet is to rent a bike from them the first time and decide after that.

I've never used them, but I heard that the rentals are pretty descent.

I'm going up in a few weeks, and I do plan on renting also.

Ridetopia is right next door and has cheaper rentals that comes with gear. You can also upgrade to to Davinci for the ultimate ride. Dont bring your bike unless you want a new one😉

It really depends on what trails you plan on riding , most of the green and blue marked trails you can use a full suspension bike for sure and enjoy it . Now , if you decide to hit some of the harder trails that consist of rock gardens then you better rent lol .. Have you been to any downhill bike parks before ? or is this your first time ?

^this. Truly depends on what trails you will be riding and your skill level.
BUT...you will have more fun and be more secure feeling on a real DH bike.

This is my first time at a downhill park. I will have to see how expensives the rentals are fromridetopia. It's too expensive too rent from mountain creek for the day. I'm riding an old ironhorse ginsu so I guess its not the best bike to bring but was hoping to not have to rent.

Well i would then recommend you rent , im sure your bike is ok for local trails but since its an older bike the geo and suspension on the ginsu wont let you have fun . I think its like $100 bucks or something to rent . I HIGHLY advise you to rent so you can actually enjoy the sport the way its meant to be ridden 🙂 .

Has anyone here rented from Ridetopia? Does it end up being cheaper than renting from Mountain Creek? Renting from Ridetopia would have to also offset the discounted lift ticket that you would get from Mountain Creek.

Rentals also come with a full-face helmet and knee/elbow pads. You definitely want this gear for your first time out. The standard GT Fury goes for $90/day.

Thanks everyone. Looks like it will have to wait a few weeks before I go. Thats an expensive day for a college student when you include gas and all.

Where do you go to school? I went to Rutgers and I'm in Edison all the time for work. If you're looking for a ride, I'd be happy to split gas with you.

Where in PA? You might be closer to Launch Bike Park at Spring Mountain and lift tickets are cheaper but no rentals there.

I used to live there! You're pretty much half way between Launch and Mt Creek (maybe slightly closer to Launch) and next year Blue Mountain will be open again with rentals and thats only 30 min for there. There are also some sweet trails in Bethlehem for XC and DH shuttling. Join the Valley Mountain Bikers or hit up the Lehigh University Cycling Club to hook up with the locals to show you the goods. If you want more specifics, PM me.
