I have a nice crack on my ss frame and i think its time to put it out of service.
im looking for noting to pricey. what are your suggestions. i really like the salsa. and i hear good things about marys
 
my friend built up a Salsa Selma, as a 1x9 and he loves it. It's now his goto bike, his Trek Fuel 69er iisn't getting anymore love.

let me know what you are thinking on the frame I might buy it as a spare in case mine cracks.
 
I've got an 09 Rig that I'm getting ready to split up and part out. Probably be a rolling chasis, just add brakes, stem, bars throw your bb in and seat.
 
If you are looking to pick up something used, the Mary will probably be more in your budget. The Salsa frames sell for more than the complete Mary. The Haro was my first 29er and I rode it for a few years and I currently ride a Salsa El Mariachi set up as my ss. Both are fun bikes but I feel the Salsa is one of my favorite bikes to ride.

The small and medium Mary are within 1/2 inch of each other in top tube measurement. Either one should work for you. Im 5'9" and went with the small because I like the feel of the smallest frame I can make work.
 
My mary is the med. I am 5' 10'' and it feels good I think the rule is the next size down when you go to a 29er.
of course YMMV...
