Le Tour!

schleck pushed contador back to the front and isn't doing any work.

Why should he? That's smart racing on his part. Contador is in a corner and he just needs to use what's available to him to his advantage.

I think you guys are confusing what Voekler is thinking as opposed to what the average French national is thinking, other than, "Where's my wine & cheese?"

Yeah, Contador is still who he is.

I like cartoons. Going to watch the Smurfs after this.

I think the average French national is in front of the TV rooting for TV to hang on.

Plus he is wearing high socks. I like high socks.

I was thinking about him out there alone trying to run down Andy and Contador in one final attempt to keep his jersey....that will probably be the talking point later....but who knows, im watching cartoons after all.

No doubt. I'm in front of a PC in NYC rooting the same. He and Basso are the only 2 that really leave it all out there every day.

That actually doesn't look like so much to me. Well I guess its enough to fill up those skinny arms he's got.

On that note, both Phil and the ITV guys think that it is a 100% certainty than Evans beats Andy in the TT by more than a minute. Seems a lot but they know the game, so I guess that's the case.

Went back a bit further ..

2007 TDF no Andy
2008 TDF Evans over Andy by 1:57
2009 TDF Evans over Andy by 0:30
2010 TDF no Evans

Not a big enough sample size to draw on. I think it's be closer than those guys think it is, but they are the experts. I'll say 50-50. I must say Evans is looking strong though .. esp the way he came back strong in stage 18 after Andy took off. Advantage for Andy is that he will be getting time gaps as he's riding.

Questions:

1. Do they send them off in reverse order tomorrow?
2. Regardless of the time gap, is Sunday a neutral day? (ie, if Evans is up by 1 second, do they actually attack or is the game over tomorrow?)
3. Anyone know if the sprinters got docked points again today?

My hat is off to Voeckler, but given the fact that he was able to hang steadily with those big names says nothing of a yellow jersey miracle; the top guys just aren't putting it all out there... yet.

I can't stand Contador's attitude and was really cheering for Andy Schleck last year. Partly because it was versus Alberto, but also because big brother wasn't there to cuddle with him and he grew a pair and went for top spot. There was a fire there in 2010. Frank is back, and the two of 'em are little sissies again. More concerned with keeping each other close enough to hold hands than one of them saying 'Fuck Off' to the other and taking off. Their 2-man slingshot technique is a joke if either of them actually want to win the damn race.

Quoting myself here for a reason.

Still, great work by Voeckler on this tour. He wasn't supposed to be anyone but a random stage winner and clung onto the wheels of Schleck Co., Evans, Sanchez, etc. The guy deserves all the praise in the world for riding as he has on this tour.

And ANDY SCHLECK! EXACTLY my sentiment from above. I knew he was holding back, and I knew that staying in touch with Frank all the time was holding them BOTH back. It was such a pathetic sight in the Pyrenees and I was almost ready to write them off... but Andy did just what I said. He rode his own race, left Frank back in the pack and took this Tour for himself.

Not to be outdone, Frank clawed his way back up to second, but on his own as well as little brother was already long gone. The two of them obviously work much better when they are not paying attention to one another at all.

I think Tommy V is about tapped out... not likely he can pinch Evans off the podium with only the TT left. But this year was definitely one of the best Tours I can remember watching.

Looks like Alberto needs to find some other kind of 'tainted' food to eat next year. How bout that,huh...

Gotta respect a man who eats bacon every day on the TdF.

Just got back from lunch, this inspired me to eat a Turkey club panini with bacon, russian dressing and melted swiss. I also had fries with mustard, no ketchup that stuff will kill you. Man I am stuffed but if that is what it takes to be a winner I'm up for it.
