Just an idea?

Go to the Mays Landing Township building and request the Tax Map Catalog. Look through it for the parcel and you can find the owners.

The GIS program there will most likely have a really nice electronic parcel map or property inventory. They might also have a Google Earth Version. I do GIS work for a living an would be willing to give you mapping assistance, but I coach football this time of year and would not be able to meet you out there often for on ground work.

Shoot me a PM and I will reach out to ACCC GIS folks in the meantime.

Thanks Axman?....Finding out about the GIS would be more than enough🙂 It would be great to get the College involved in the steps in creating this place. I wish they had a Ski or some kinda Activity Club that would be willing to get involved. More people the better. But thanks for the ofter of helping out..its apperciated🙂.....Bye the way...this place has alot of downed trees from the storm he had a few months ago..alot of snags and hanging trees...so chainsaw work will probably be need to create a trail...I almost forgot..If you talk to someone in the ACCC GIS program and they are interested..I'd love to meet with them sometime...Thanks again.

BonsaiMTB, I don't live in SJ, but I'm glad to see you follow up with this. Many people talk the talk, but don't walk the walk. I think you might see more volunteers jumping in to help if they recognize that something is actually happening.

Thanks Soundz?....I'm coming down with a lot of health issues again..just praying I will hold up to make this thing happen.

Emailed a Luise who is the head of a Enviromental group at ACCC about building singletrack at the college. Not sure how involved the club is at the school. I hope to hear back from him/her soon🙂

Went out to ACCC today to talk to there Enviromental Group leader Luis M. He was very excited about the idea and said they would be holding a meeting very soon with others who are interested at the school. He mentioned that enviromental studies may have to be done...I know nothing about this...but he seems to be pretty sure of what he was saying..so well see? He said if this go as planned..then hopfully is project will get off the ground by this time next year...one can only hope🙂

This is awesome! environmental will tell you where to stay away from - or you may need to do a bridge (it may be a negotiation). zoning will have a say, permit and building process for anything structural - signage, and access. don't forget to get the marketing people involved - you'll want logos, and a tag line. think of anything you can to get the different departments involved...ie a website to track progress - someone to document the process (both planning and building) - historical info (are you passing anything important) - even tree identification like the ones at six mile - just to point out trees of interest (or rocks - you never know). you don't have to do all of this, since there is a college full of people thinking about it - just have them get it on the timeline, but get excited about it, and seed it!

You are having a great initial round! collecting the parties that have a say, eliciting cooperation. with school support, you may also want to move into town and neighborhood support (ie politicians and local business) - probably early, but something to throw around after the initial meetings - gotta feed the top too - they see benefit.

your idea of when to start the build is good, but let it fall where it will - as in, put together a timeline, and let each group define their phase, and their contingencies (as in who should have a say before them/after them as opposed to alternate planning)

as you can see i get excited about projects - mine have never been a physical build (i'm a computer guy), but how to get from zero to go-time is in my happy zone! i'm not close by, but if strategy is needed, please let me know. will see if i can help.

don't forget the JORBA and IMBA - i bet there are some killer presentations around, when any type of resistance appears.

again, well done. A story being written.

Thanks🙂 you mention alot of time lines and the such...not sure how that is run..but I'll look into it? Also...getting local politicians is a good idea..we need them when we built Estell Manor Park. Hopefully this will all gel together over time🙂

all quiet this week...haven't heard anything from the school as of yet...although I did go to town hall and get tax maps of the property..its much larger than expected...I think the somewhere around 1200 acers all together. Don't know how to read one..but its show what is there...

And does anyone know how to get a free topo map of this area?...i went to the conservation office the other day and they said they don't have maps anymore????

mapmyride.com has topo layers on their maps.
need to look at route details to get the layer. "usa topo"

i see 20' resolution in my area.

us geological survey site

This link

is good for finding free maps - use the google map interface to drop a pin
where you want the map centered, then click the pin, and choose the first map to add to the cart - then preview the map in the cart - it will download a pdf file that can be zoomed/panned -

those are free - not sure if the "pay for" ones are higher resolution. I'll try pull one and compare it to the other links.

Axe..what tools are you using? I may have access to ARCMAP.

Here is a pdf of the area - 30MB

smaller/single layer version = 12 MB

Arcgis... in it all day. This was a real simple and low Res export. I can get fancier and can prob get parcel lines etc etc also.

Not real sure what you guys are talking about...I just need a detailed topo that show in detail the elevation gain/loss on the map...this way I could lay the trail out without walking the 8 to 14 miles first before taping/flagging it out? If you can print one out and snail mail it to me..It would be greatful. I'll pay for the postage and handleing...thanks 🙂

You may want to wait a month or so for the vegetation to die down and hike it all. There looks to be quite a bit of swampiness in there if I'm reading it right. Maps will show you boundaries, but walking will show you flow.

Want to walk the ACCC property in about 3 weeks...anyone locally interested in checking the place out? 4 eyes are better than 2 😉
