Hydration Pack

1) I have 2 water bottle cages. On a hot day ride, I can carry 2 water bottles however...... on a Hot night ride, I can carry only 1 because my headlight battery goes in the other cage. Plus I have a bike mount pump that get's in the way when mounted with a cage.

How big is this battery? Do you have pictures?

2) As previously mentioned the constantly dirty bottle tops are annoying and I think it will be easier to drink without stopping with a hydropak.

I hate getting dirty when I ride mountain bikes! I especially hate going through water. The bugs are annoying too, along with all the mosquito bites I get! Don't get me started about ticks! I get all sweaty too 🙁

Hahaha! getting dirty is ok by me. Drinking the dirt on the other hand SUCKS!

Mosquito's for the most part don't like me.

The battery looks like this:

If it's not too late...price point has the camelbak hawg for $54 (more than half off!). It's a large bag but well worth it. If I could post pics via my iPhone I would.

hydrapak cute. Its like 20.00 bucks plus shipping.Small holds like 70 oz. small storage pocket, can turn bladder inside out to clean.

I have been using a CamelBak Lobo (LINK) for about two years now. I like the 100oz reservoir (more on that later), small footprint (backprint? it doesn't take up a lot of space on my back), and there is enough storage space without much wasted space.

I like the large reservoir because if I am going on a shorter ride, or it is cooler out, I just don't fill it up all the way. You can always put less water in a big bladder, you can't put more in a small one.

Now the Lobo may not have enough storage for some people, I ride light with just a few multi-tools, a patch kit, a pump, and keys/wallet/phone, but it sounds like you have that stuff all on your bike anyway, so it may be what you are looking for.

What I don't like is the fact that it isn't reversible for easy cleaning, but I get around that by just freezing it.

Best bag by far

This is the bag that I ride with, super light, expandable, integrated helmet holder, rain fly, two mesh bottle holders, internal frame to keep the bag suspended off your back for airflow and comfort.

Not super cheap but will last a long time.

I crashed wearing the bag and the internal frame deflected a poorly cut tree branch from going into my lungs through my back. Just ended up with a deep scrape on my sholder instead of an ER visit.

I think if you look around on Amazon or may Pricepoint you can get the previous year model Camelback at a decent price.

Homemade light system and battery, right Mike?

Thanks!

Yes Sir! What up Dave! 🙂

I ended up buying the Camelbak M.U.L.E today locally for $72.....not a bad price.

This one:

It's kind of bigger than I wanted but ......I'll have to see how it goes!

Thank you all for you opinions and ideas. It was all part of my decision. For most things, I prefer to buy locally instead of online because I like to see and touch the item before I buy it.
