What is Ringwood like? Just rode Jungle Habitat for first time at the last race. Is RW very similar?
For those of us unable to pre-ride, could we get a description of the race course?
If we get the 3" of rain tomorrow, how well does RW drain?

Ringwood has lots of rocks, but not so much the race course. The 1st 3/4 of the race course is mostly fireroads. There will be rocks on the fireroads, but nothing crazy. Then you go into a long switch back singletrack climb and you descent to the finish on the singletrack. The singletrack is somewhat technical.

RW drains well. I'm gonna go check it out today evening. Hopefully, it's ok.

It was fine today, however they are calling for some serious amount of rain tonight into tomorrow and even into Friday morning. I suspect a couple of the areas that had the large puddles will be added to with more rain coming. Today you were able to go around those but it may not be the case on Sunday.

Puddles I can deal with. Slick rocks not so much. Maybe I'll go out there with a hair dryer and generator on Saturday 😉

Ringwood drains well and if we get a few days for it to dry out, things should ride pretty well this time of year. If there is recent rain, the rocks on the last mile could be slippery.

I was there today and even after all the rain, conditions were perfect. It was so dry there, so the rain really helped. I think after Thurs/Fri rain, it'll be fine by Sunday. Some puddles, but rocks should be alright.

So it sounds like there is a lot of places to pass. Is this one of the faster courses of the H2H series?

Just rode it again today. Yea for the 1st 6 miles, there will be 2384029380429 places to pass. There is a short single track in the middle (poison ivy trail), but it's mostly smooth downhill (where everyone will be going fast) and the uphill part at the end has some passing room.

Most of the fireroads are fast. There are some spots which get rocky, and I had to slow down, but I didn't have to dab anywhere for the whole fireroad sections - I race Cat 3 with not so great tech skills for your reference.

The last 2 miles is single track and pretty rocky. They are not as tight as JH, so passing won't be easy, but very possible. The switchbacks are really sharp turns with rocks so they are tricky.

Rain?

How did you Black Bear guys do with the rain around Ringwood. Not a drop all day here at the Jersey shore. Scheduled all my indoor work for today because thought the day was a wash. Should have, could have ridden.

Was hoping to preride around 2 tomorrow unless, of course, the place gets dumped on tonight. Keep us posted if you can.

thanks

I've been looking at the weather radar all day and I live about 20 miles east of Ringwood. As far as I can tell a sh*t-ton of rain fell between 7am-10am'ish. Almost no rain all afternoon and evening. It looks like the storm is getting pushed out West toward PA, but there is another big storm center coming from VA. It's unclear if it will get push out West or come back East.

I would say we've been pretty lucky with this one so far.

Hey don't forget Prereg closes today! I noticed it was on the light side last night.

Anybody got a course map? I need to stake out locations tomorrow! Thanks! 🙂

FYI the classic vulture spot on this course is the log overs which if you go in reverse from the start will get you there quickest. It was more dramatic before they removed the 2 logs after the woodwork imo.

Yes, there is no more log overs there. A tree fell down and the trail was re-routed slightly. Not As photographic.

Just got back from RW. Started at the Warm puppy rock and over to the single track section of the race course. Everything is looking good and dry for tomorrow.
