Because that's what happens on this forum. There is a reason why so many come & very few stay. I don't know if this guy is legit or not it really doesn't matter much. If the guy is for real then props to him for trying, if not at least there's some entertainment for the day.

I Am very legit I have no problem meeting the owner at the Clifton police department I'm not trying to rip anyone off I just know what it feels like losing something very expensive

This is hardly disrespecting a sponsor. It's been common practice in both road and mtb racing for as long as major manufacturers have been sticking their names on downtubes. It's less common now, seeing as most pro race bikes are made of plastic, by children, in labor camps... But it certainly still happens. From Indurain, Roche and Pantani's Pegoretti's to Hampsten's Landshark (huffy)... A green jersey was won on a custom "specialized" in the not too distant past.

or leave at police station let them do their job.

Oh come on now. We get 500 registered visitors every 48 hours, and likely as many non-registered. That's hardly flash-in-the-pan material. Every now and again things go off course. But really, it's not like this is a group of 20 guys here. The people who don't like the occasional derailment won't last either way.

The fact is that everyone who checked in today saw this thread. If there's anyone who knows someone who knows someone associated with this story, it will get back to that person. Goofing off keeps it on the top of the new posts list, and keeps people entertained as well. Otherwise, the thread would have gotten 50 views and dropped off the page in a few hours.

The same goes for things being sold. If the OP doesn't mind, I let people run wild with those because it keeps the sale item active for a longer period of time.
 
Now I feel like a douche, but to be clear I was im'ing with the op since the beginning of my screwing around. I told him I was only having fun and that it wasnt my bike. I wished him well for doing what he was doing and told him that if nobody steps forward he at least has himself a valuable gsp keepsake.
 
Are you guys sure that ReggieHammond wasn't making a joke in reference to this thread? Why else would he say "all kidding aside"?

I'm pretty sure he was kidding... I know if any of my people had something happen to their rides the first thing we would do is post here...
